very unwelcoming place

I hate writing reviews but I have to say something about this place. I have a lot of dark spots on my face and i'm trying to get them off through micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels. First time I walked into this place, I knew what I wanted so they didnt have to sell me anything. I am on my third treatment and I am disappointed. I think the result is okay but the customer service is horrible. I do not feel welcomed when I walk in. A bunch of girls just stay by the computer and stare at you. I feel like my tech is always in a hurry to go home. I dont think the peel stays on my face for the appropriate 3 mins. My face is yet to peel. The whole experience is just not personal enough for me. The other day I went in to get a micro dermabrasion treatment...The practitioner did not know what I was in for, she thought I was getting a peel. Its impossible to get an appointment and they are very quick to just book you in a month if they have no slots for the normal 2 weeks interval....I paid for 10 treatments and I am done after that..If i'm paying you so much money, I expect to get excellent service and feel welcomed when I walk in and I expect whoever is working with me to know my history of visits and what i'm getting done instead of always trying to sell me something.I should have known better because the first day I walked in for consultation, a customer was complaning at the front desk about the service
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Horrible customer service, techs are too busy chatting
I disputed with Sleek Medspa Boston:
by Patienceclient at Citysearch
Avoid this Sleek Medspa like it is the plague! I signed up for a laser hair removal package here for 6 treatments with a lifetime guarantee, was billed $1,600. I financed payments with the loan company that works with Sleek Medspa. This Sleek Medspa will try and dupe you the minute you walk in the door. This is what has happened to me: I went for 2 treatments, and at the 2nd appointment, found gel from the previous client smeared on the technicians table, and used towels bunched up on the corner of the floor. I had to ask the technician for a clean towel to wipe off the table before I was treated. I was very uncomfortable and will not go back to Sleek Medspa offices. This type of environment in a treatment office is unsanitary and unsafe. Additionally, at my first appointment, the technician missed several spots as she hastily moved the laser around. I complained to the manager, and she offered to rewrite the contract package to include more areas for the laser hair removal. She suggested I consider offering the remainder of services I paid for to a friend or family member. This company has messy, unsanitary offices, the service delivery of laser hair removal is highly questionable in its effectiveness, and this Sleek Medspa has junky equipment. The customer service at this Newbury St. "spa" is extremely bad, and it is clear that the employees are strictly looking to make a buck; they do not truly care about the individual customer. It is apparent to me that Sleek Medspa trains their employees to take the money from the each person who walks in the building. They really do not care about you as their customer. When I called to complain and asked to speak to a manager, and I was told she was on vacation, when I asked to speak with her supervisor, she was also on vacation the next week; these two weeks pushed me back even farther from the date I initiated business with the company. I went in person to their office to express my dissatisfaction with their services.
Here is what I am doing, and suggest to every person who is as deeply dissatisfied with the Boston Sleek Medspa to do the same:
File an official dispute, 2) mail a letter CERTIFIED THROUGH THE US POSTAL SERVICE of complaint and dispute (this is called a 30-Day Demand Letter), 3) Send a report of complaint to the Massachusetts Board of Health, 4) Report this to the Cosmetology Association of Massachusetts, 5) File a complaint with The Better Business Bureau, 6) File a dispute with the finance company, 7) I explained my situation to an attorney, who gave legal advice, 8) I am prepared to take Sleek Medspa Boston to court and to defend my position.
My dispute is still current, and as of now, Sleek is processing a refund of one third (1/3) of the cost of the package. I had two treatments, that is one third (1/3) of the package I paid for with financing. The Sleek Medspa is charging me two thirds (2/3) of the package cost: this is the individual treatment rate ($500.00) per treatment all for the reason that I wish to end this laser hair removal package. This is so upsetting to me I had paid $500. back to the finance company already for the two lousy treatments, the second which made me so uncomfortable, and the remaining balance was $1,070.00. They want me to pay $500.00 more, for those two treatments I had. I cancelled the two appointments that I had scheduled in October and in November. Consider this, as no one should have to go through a situation like this: I had two laser hair removal treatments and pay $1,100.00 for the discomfort, unsanitary environment it was performed in, for the highly questionable, ineffective service, and the extremely bad customer service that Sleek Medspa responds with.
Posting a review on citysearch is one way I am trying to help prevent other potential customers at Sleek MedSpa Boston from experiencing what I am going through.

Response from this business

Dear Patienceclient.
I am Cheryl the manager of the Boston location. I am very sorry to hear about your negative experience. I assure you that all of our techs are trained above and beyond industry standards as we take the safety of our clients very seriously. Here in the Boston locations we have some of the best practitioners in the area. We also have a board certified doctor that oversees our procedures in Boston as well as all of our other locations. I was not in the room when this incidence happened however all of our treatment rooms are maintained in a sanitary fashion and are regulated by medical guidelines. We are so confident in our technology (The Soprano XL) that we even do a Lifetime Guarantee with all laser hair removal packages. I want to take care of your concerns so please contact me at 617-247-4444. Cheryl.
Worst Customer Service!
by Hardwire at Citysearch
I have been a client of Sleek MedSpa at the Newbury Street location for some time. I’ve mostly used the microderm services. I have also purchased a laser hair removal package that is guaranteed for life. Let’s say I’ve dropped a few thousand for these services.
After a routine micro I decided to purchase a product. When I got home, I realized that I had an email that gave me 25% off purchases of their products valid that day in addition to receiving a flyer. So I went back to get the minor adjustment.
I explained my situation, had my documents and wanted a credit to my credit card. The woman at the front desk said she couldn’t do that but would be willing to credit me on my next purchase. I explained that I did not plan on purchasing anything else so a credit would be appreciated. Again, she couldn’t do that. After further explaining my situation she said she would have to leave a message for her manager and that the manager would get back to me. I was annoyed but somewhat satisfied someone could take care of something so simple.
Some time goes by and no response. Next appointment I decide to ask yet another person at the front desk about my inquiry. Again, she couldn’t authorize the credit but she took down my name and number and assured me the manager would get back to me. She also informed me of the “problems” at this location in the customer service area.
A couple days later the manager left a voice mail that at this time she was unable to credit my card and could only give me a credit to anything I purchased in the future. I called her back and she had to get her manager involved again as I was not satisfied with her response. She said she would call me back. She never did.
Here is what I take from this: Sleek MedSpa is an organization that really could care less about their clients. Once you purchase their services, they have your money and you’re not getting it back. There is a purpose for policies; however, a human needs to be able to read said policies and determine if the policy makes sense and is valid. Furthermore, the new and improved management is not only willing to let go of a client over a few bucks but also invite negative press.
With so many options out there to get dead skin cells off your face, I encourage you to look at other places.
- Pros: Location, some friendly technicians
- Cons: Disorganized, management, can't get an appointment
Expensive, unprofessional, unsatisfactory.

I experienced the same stuff a lot of people here have been complaining about. There is always problems with booking appointments, and the staff is unprofessional and condescending.
I had a laser hair removal package and after 6 sessions I don't even see 20% reduction. Could it be because the techs speed through the session and miss spots so frequently?
My friend also got burned quite badly by one of their techs and when she complained they told her it was her fault and that she had signed an agreement (read fine print).
- Pros: Location, amenities
- Cons: techs unprofessional, scheduling problems, no doctors

SCAM MED SPA....STAY AWAY GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST FOR HONEST ANSWERS ON WHAT WORKS

I wish that I had viewed the reviews on both Yelp and then on here before I got sucked into purchising an overpriced package at this "Scam Med Spa". I wanted to eliminate some old acne scars that I have and was told that a combination of Micromdermabrasion/Chemical Peels and Photo Facial's could do this. The problem's started immediately. Sleek Med Spa has the WORST Customer Service of any Spa that I have ever been to. The tech did not show up on my first appointment. On my third appointment the tech did not show up for work again! On my fourth appointment the Microdermabrasion machine was broken and Sleek Med spa did not even call to tell me this, meanwhile I took time off from work. They will add on an extra treatment each time if you complain, but what use is that when their staff does not even show up?
The tech told me to purchase some very expensive Bleaching Cream and the next day I had an appointment with my Dermatologist, who informed me that this $100.00 dollar cream does absolutely nothing to help. I then returned the cream with the Seal still intact and Sleek told me that they do not accept returns. I then told them that they should have told me this when I purchased the product and besides the seal was still on it, product was unopened. In the end they took it back and refunded my credit card, however, I had to ask for the manager. My dermatologist told me that the treatments would never change the composition of my face and that the acne scars would remain. By this time I had had enough and wrote a letter to the Manager and sent it Certified. A corporate manager finally called me back..( it took weeks ) and after bickering back and fourth and threatening to go to the Attorney General's office and Legal action, I was able to get some money back. This woman had the nerve to compare her techs to my M.D. My advice is to see a Dermatologist M.D. on what works and what does not. Rockoff Center in Brookline does great honest work.
- Pros: NOTHING
- Cons: OVERPRICED,PRICE GAUGING, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, HIGH PRESSURE SALES, NO RESULTS,STAFF DOES NOT SHOW UP FOR APPOINTMENTS
Terrible Experience
by sb66 at Citysearch
I had mesotherapy done at Sleek Boca Raton about a year ago (I went in for a consultation for something else and was talked in to it). I asked about adverse side effects and the consultant said there were none (this probably should have been my first clue not to trust Sleek). After a few treatments, I noticed that I was seeing absolutely no improvement and my swelling was not going down. Both the aesthetician and the manager assured me it was normal and to get more treatments done. Around $1,500 later, it was clear that the procedure not only hadn?t worked, but had made things worse. I now have localized swelling on my inner thighs that will not go down.
I let them know how unhappy I was with the whole process, but I was rudely told that I had signed a contract and there would be no compensation for what had happened.
A couple months ago I received an email from the manager saying that things at Sleek had changed and that I should give them another chance. I assumed that this meant they would be allowing me to use the money I had wasted on mesotherapy on another procedure or at least receive some partial compensation. So I went in for a free consultation at Sleek Boston. Before I could even say what I was procedure I wanted, the consultant started GUESSING what I was there for. I found this incredibly insulting, particularly since she guessed wrong and managed to make me feel very insecure about a mole I have on my face. I was truly shocked by her appalling manners. On top of that, she tried to pretend that I was getting a $150 discount for my previous troubles, but this was actually a promotion I had received a coupon for over email!
Sleek Medspa may seem like a convenient place to have cosmetic work done, but you?re infinitely better off going somewhere that cares about you as a customer and a person. I hope this post manages to save someone else from making the poor choice I made in going to Sleek.
- Pros: The locations are convenient
- Cons: Everything else (but particularly the staff, the atmosphere, rudeness, and general policies of the institution)

STAY AWAY FROM SLEEK MEDSPA
by Connell08 at Citysearch
What a terrible, disappointing experience. I went to Sleek MedSpa on Newbury Street in September. I inquired about fat loss measures in problem areas and I was given a "consultation" which was the most ridiculous hard/desperate sale you can imagine. I was told I 100% should do LippoDissolve as I was "too slender to bother with Smart Lipo" and my problem areas were love handles and belly. Not much, but I can be vain about that stuff so I went for it. I got a package of 10 treatments for a LOT of money. I was told I would start seeing results after 4 or so. Not only did I not see results, I actually found my pants fitting TIGHTER and I got stretch marks along my sides from where you would swell from the injections right after treatments. I was told nothing could be done about that.
Now, here is the kicker, and the reason I even bothered to write this. I went in yesterday for my 7th treatment, and was told I should reallly consider Smart Lipo since I will at least see results from that. And also that liposdissolve is temporary and the fat cells can get large again, so only smartlipo obliterated them. They tried to tell me this - NOW - after I paid and went through 7 painful treatments. And then tried to get me to pay full price for an entirely new procedure to do what the first one did not. I left with a sick feeling in my stomach. I am absolutely disgusted with this business and expect to see them go out of business in no time based on their complete lack of ethics.
- Pros: Sam, who does Mesotherapy, is great
- Cons: They lie, they now have no one available on Newbury for Mesotherapy on Weekdays, it is a sham
