They didn't have bread!!!

by scottied0g at Citysearch

I've only entered this place once and it was while on a search for some nice locally made bread. I went in asked what they had (it was mid day) they said they didn't have bread!!! Don't have bread??? Well what do you sell here I asked? The clown behind the counter shrugged "d'no". I haven't been back.

Fantastic Bakery

If you are looking for fresh artisanal bread this is the place. My favorites are the Ciabatta, chewy crust, soft interior and the seven grain, soft, nutty flavor, with a hint of honey. Their bread is very popular, so get there early, especially on the weekends.

They also make fantasic deserts from cookies and bars (try the S'mores bars) to fresh fruit tarts to mousse cakes, which are as decadent as they are beautiful. My favorite cake is a toss up between their chocolate carrot cake, sweet and creamy, or their flourless chocolate cake, dark, dense, melts in your mouth.

The weekend special to die for is their chocolate almond croissant bread pudding, it's one of the beast things I've ever put in my mouth.

Delicate, homemade pastries and sinful desserts lure those with a sweet tooth to Jamaica Plain.

In Short
On-the-run locals swing by to grab a fresh cup of fresh coffee and a buttery, handcrafted croissant. On weekends, two varieties of brioche are available--plain or with dried apricots, cherries, cranberries and golden raisins. Or skip them both and sample a seasonal fruit tart instead. Craving something more decadent? A white-chocolate mousse cake with lemon curd and blueberries may be just the thing.

Oh wow! what a great find. While walking along a side street in JP I came across this fantastic little bakery. The pastry is to die for, the best eclair I have ever tasted. The girl behind the counter made me feel right at home, and the baker answered all my questions. I would highly recomend the chocolate chip cookies too!
