If you like pool, the place to be

by Davidforestieri

This is a great place just to hang out with friends and play some games of pool. I consider this place the guys hang out spot and have been going here since before 2003 when I first came to Boston. I would reccomend this place to anyone who is visiting or just looking for a great place to meet up with the guys.

  • Pros: Professional pool tables

I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO BOWL AND HAD A GREAT TIME

by KBROWN

ON A BUSINESS TRIP TO BOSTON, THE COMPANY I WAS HELPING OUT HAD A CORPORATE PARTY AT LUCKYSTRIKES.

THEY MADE IT SO WE HAD OUR OWN LANES SEPERATED FROM THE REST OF THE CROWD AND GREAT SERVICE BY TWO YOUNG LADIES.

I DIDNT BOWL BUT DID ENJOY THE FOOD, BEER, AND WATCHING THE PLAYOFFS ON THE HUGE PROJECTION.

I SPENT ALOT OF MY TIME AT THE BAR TALKING/ARGUING WITH THE BOSTON FANS (I WAS GOING FOR CHICAGO!)

OVERALL, I HAD A GOOD TIME AND DIDN'T EVEN BOWL...

  • Pros: FOOD, HUGE TV, SPORTS FANS
  • Cons: BOSTON FANS...

Night Out

by Dbase1972

Great night out. Giant projection tv's with smaller tv's in between. Games on every one. Managers are attentive and accomodating with anything you want to watch. Bar staff doesn't get much better on Friday and Saturday nights. Strong, tasty drinks and very talkative. Lanes are in great shape. Live dj Thu-Sat. Roof deck for smokers as well. Can't go wrong.

  • Pros: atmosphere, staff
  • Cons: none

Overpriced and overcrowded

by jenheidir

The place looks cool, with neon lights illuminating the bowling lanes and plasma TVs with the Sox game on everywhere. But lines for lanes later in the night can be up to two hours, leaving you to order food to pass the time while you wait that?s overpriced and really nothing special versus any other decent restaurant in Boston. My chocolate donut dessert was overly rich; I didn?t even finish it. This isn?t a place to come to mingle either as the grouped lounge chairs don?t really allow for the flow of getting to talk to new friends. I only go bowling at Lucky Strike on weekdays when I know lines won?t be as long.

  • Pros: bowling lanes
  • Cons: food, prices, long waits to bowl

Fun All Around

by LiaTeQuiLa

The reviews listed for Jillian's/Lucky Strike are pretty old. Since the 2008 year has begun, much has changed at this establishment. There are no longer pinball machines and a game room but there are plenty of bowling lanes, pool tables, and ping pong. Also, I would highly recommend their club, Tequila Rain, that is open on Friday and Saturday nights. It's such a great atmosphere, along with the dance floor there you still have access to the other 2 floors, Jillians and Lucky Strike. If you do go to Tequila Rain, I suggest you get a 1/2 yard drink, they are absolutely delicious and there is quite a selection to choose from. The staff is generally very helpful but it's definitely a mixed group. Most of the people who work there are extremely friendly and attentive. Some staff may not be as friendly as others, but that happens everywhere you go. If you're looking for something to do, or you want to watch the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, Bruins or any other nationally televised game it's a great place to hang out and get some drinks, maybe play a little pool and just relax. Each floor has different music and the food there is very tasty. Overall, I would most certainly recommend this establishment!

  • Pros: Great drinks, food & atmosphere
  • Cons: Parking is a little bit tough

Horrible Service with an Attitude

by lisap3

I can't believe how bad the service was. I was there in Aug. and won a free game for myself and some friends, the service was bad then too. Tonight 4 of us went again. The waitress was never around even though they weren't busy. Our lane didn't work, we had to get someone to fix it 8-10 times. The bar kept getting stuck and not clearing the pins. It was very frustrating and took twice as long to play.

When I complained to the girl behind the counter, she didn't say she was sorry and would fix it. Instead she rolled her eyes and spoke into her walkie-talkie. Then I asked the man behind the counter if there was anything he could do for the inconvenience and his reply was, "Isn't it a free game?" I later found out that this was the manager, Travis. Obviously the complete lack of professionalism and customer service starts at the top. Meanwhile, we had spent over $100 on food + beverages (which was hard to do considering the waitress only came by every 25 mins.) and they didn't offer a discount or even an apology.

Finally, we went to leave and after trying to get our waitress' attention, we had to walk across the restaurant just to pay our bill because she was standing in the corner talking to to 3 other waitresses. The service was horrible, the attitude toward customer service was atrocious, the food was only ok, and the game didn't even work most of the time. I won't pay good money to be frustrated, ignored, and treated like I'm lucky to be there and I should be happy with whatever crappy service I get.

You would think that the point in giving away free games is to bring more people in for future visits. I will never go back and will tell anyone I know not to go. Me and my friends could not believe the level of service, the disregard for customer complaints and complete lack of professionalism. Obviously they're not getting enough people to go and need to give away free games just to get people in the door. If you're looking for fun bowling, go to King's.

  • Pros: It had decent music.
  • Cons: Horrible service, game didn't work half the time, kept getting stuck.

HORRIBLE SERVICE

by sarasilver1985

I went to Lucky Strikes 1 time and that was it. Me and my friends go out a lot and decided to try Jillians. The service was HORRIBLE! The place was nice, but the server was rude- the bartender was rude and the food was terrible. I got a chicken sandwich and the chicken was not cooked and the fries were about 4 hours old. The place was very modern, but I would never go back based on our visit.

  • Pros: nice and clean
  • Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE- Bad food- RUDE STAFF

Terrible

by strykerjackson

Jillians has the worst service ever. They take way too long for food and drinks, but if you try and complain watch out because you will be treated like a criminal and surrounded by "security". Terrible.

  • Pros: tv
  • Cons: go anywhere else

tons of fun

by davidakido

rainy day, sunny day, pretty much if your bored, go here. It is a blast. there is a foof deck for when the weather is nice, TV's playing all major sporting events, plus BOWLING. I personnaly haven't bowled since I was a kid. And this place is far from your children's bowling alley. This is a trendy 21+ party spot. Sunday afternoon, Friday night, give it a try, you'll love it.

  • Pros: drinking + food + bowling = fun as hell
  • Cons: may be a wait,

The Jillian's entertainment complex's crowning jewel is an airy, 25,000-square-foot bowling emporium that doubles as a hip hangout.

by Eric Grossman

The Scene
Lucky Strike, a national chain of upscale bowling lounges, has a prominent Boston home directly above Jillian's popular pool hall. Despite 16 lanes, weekend waiting times have been known to top two hours. Those on the list--no reservations are taken--pass the time drinking designer cocktails while gawking at an astounding 80 feet by 10 feet video wall. The lounge's retro environment and comfy couches are popular with area students and sports fans.

The Draw
Most patrons come for the state-of-the-art bowling, but with pricey shoe rental and lane fees, the fun doesn't come cheap. Still, this isn't your grandpa's alley--computerized consoles enable players to track scores, while screens drop down from the ceiling to display the big game. Hungry bowlers choose from a lengthy menu that seemingly contains every snack under the sun, from individual pizzas and pressed sandwiches to martini glasses filled with raw tuna or banana custard.
