User Reviews for Spirit Bar & Restaurant

3 Star Rating: Average

This is a fairly generic bar, with a token attempt at weekend brunch, served in a narrow window. However, the servers (at least some of them) are witty, cute, and entertaining to be around. The bartenders are friendly and funny. When the students are out of town, this is a thoroughly worthwhile place to stop in for a drink. On game nights (during school months), this place is too crowded, too loud, and too unremarkable to bother with. But if it's slow enough that you can actually hear the waitress's repartee, it's totally worth the price of admission.

Pros: Service

Cons: Parking, Crowd

Place does pack them in on the weekends--not a bad place to watch a game --they have the MLB package which is great because I am a 26 time world champion yankee fan.. Menu OK-- only problem is the location

The waitresses used to be so hot here - what happened? I miss the eye candy! The food is good, nice TV set up and it pulls in a good crowd - lots of chicks. Great beer buckets and buffalo wings! Parking can be tough though.

This is the place to go, if you want to avoid the crowds and frat boy mentality. The place is a great mix of young new residents and older people. The bartender seems to know most people and is very friendly. However it's the food here that takes this from good bar to great bar. The cuban sandwich is excellent. Their wings and Coors Light special is also a good one. It's where I'll be on St. Patty's Day.

Pros: Great staff, Great food

Cons: Parking

I've been going to Spirit for a while now after finally venturing out of Davis Square. The three plasmas and the big screen definitley make this the best place to watch the game. They have the NFL SUNDAY TICKET The staff is always friendly, and the waitresses are all hot! The food is really good. I reccommend the wings. They have a special for a bucket of beer and buffalo wings for short money. They added steak tips to the menu which are great! Parking is kinda tough. They also have NTN trivia and TEXAS HOLD'EM. The poker is a lot of fun. They set up tounraments all the time, and they start one for me and my friends whenever we go in. They can't do cash giveaways, but I usually do something on the side with my friends. Anyway, great place, great food, great TV's and great people!

Pros: TV's, Texas Hold 'Em, Food

Cons: Parking

I am a regular there but not in a way where I know "everyones" names. I just go there frequently with some buddies from time to time. We love it - the food and service are great! With one exception.. The cooks are not very flexible when it comes to the tiniest food requests! (don't get me started) And to top it off, we can always hear them swearing and yelling at the bartenders/waitstaff behind the big red curtain!! Thumbs up to the bartenders and waitstaff! Another thumbs up to the food but a big thumbs down to the cooks professionalism and poor personalities!! Get a glass door so that we don't have to hear thier trashy mouths or get some cooks with a little class and reservation.

Pros: menu variety

Cons: parking

I love this bar. Its a great place to meet a friend for a drink and inexpensive dinner and to catch a game. However, I've had several experiences now with waitresses getting orders mixed up or forgetting to come back to our table, etc. This can be a bit annoying, but I've learned to just keep orders simple and be patient!

The place is new and clean. Red and black decor dominates with a lot of mirrors and plasma TVs, really sharp feeling. It has a good selection of draft beer, and of course, many mixed drinks. The food is average, a lot of variety, but not great quality. Don't ever try their egg-rolls. The prices are reasonable for both drinks and food. On weekend, the music gets loud late during the night. Spirit is similar to Joshua Tree at Davis Sq, but lot sharper and hipper. It's definitely good for hanging out with friends or a date. And it's fantastic for watching sports.

Pros: Great Decor, Plasma TVs, Good Beer

Cons: , No parking

Porter Square locals come here to catch the game, grab a beer and fill up on upscale bar food.  See the full editorial review.
