If you like authentic Indian food....... don't even bother to visit this place. The food is bland... and is the awe-inspiring. In the end I'd just say there are better places in and around Boston to spend your money at!
Pros: Ambience maybe!
Cons: parking, service staff, food

The first time ever i went to have some indian food was at rani, the server was cool. He helped me decide food, carefully explaining wat will be good for me and why. The attention he gave was overwhelming. I'm a regular diner at Rani now. Overall a great experience each time great cocktails, great indian food, superb non-indian servers.*****
Pros: Excellent Servers
Cons: Long wait time for cocktails (drinks are good though)

I have been going to this restaurant (and its previous incarnation) for years. The food and service are remarkably consistent and excellent. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and willing to engage in discussion of Indian food and cooking.

Go here for some of the most unique and exciting ecletic Inidan food in Boston! A little expensive. Make a reservation on weekends.

We took my parents to this restaurant for dosas and sambar. The dosa was like cardboard and the sambar like water. Our waiter also left to go home before our meal was over so no one offered us dessert. Finally got tired of waiting and asked for the check. I dont know why Boston has no good South Indian food inside of the city, but if you want a good dosa go to Chennai Woodlands in Framingham. Its very casual, but the food is delicious. Btw, we've had the same tasteless experience at Rani and its sister restaurants, Tanjore and Rangoli. There's good Indian food in Boston - dont waste your time here.
Cons: Bland food, poor service

I have eaten at Rani at least several times in the last year. It is a fantastic choice for a relaxed lunch/dinner with good friends. I can't speak to the authenticity of the cuisine, but I can say that I have very much enjoyed all the dishes I have ordered. Extremely tasty, and not too oily or overspiced. Also, I would highly recommend their Sunday brunch. Even after I was completely satiated, I still wanted to go back for more - the food was so good! And finally, the decor is tasteful and subtle. It looks nice, but avoids any pretentiousness. The bathrooms are nice and clean - which is always impressive and a good sign that this is a restaurant where the people care about the customer's experience.
Pros: food, decor, atmosphere

This is just a suggestion to the readers in and around boston, the place is good to be in with friends and family. The food is claimed as authentic but in reality is not that authentic but the effort was made to be one.To my eating experience in the other indian restaurants and this ,this stands among the best food we can have. The price is bit more but you can afford it....The location is good and the service is great. So Like to have a Hyderbadi Biryani...this is could be it.The other dishes were also good apart from biryani.
Pros: Good Location, Friendly Service, Hot Food
Cons: Not that Tasty, Bit pricy, Busy place

If you don't want to travel into the city for a visit to Kashmir, check out Rani. The food is quality and the atmosphere is fresh and exciting. The seats overlooking Beacon street are fun for people watching. They have a nice selection of traditional favorites. It's Coolidge Corner location makes it easy accesible. You should be able to find parking at the meters on the weekend and it is central to the Coolidge Corner T Stop. A reasonable value too. Waitstaff was very attentive.
Pros: quality food, atmosphere, good location

Rani's dining room is sleek and well designed. I found the service to be quite good and very friendly. The portions for dinner were quite large but I found the food to be the slightest bit bland. I also thought that this food was a bit more expensive than it should have been considering that there are other indian restaurants in the neighborhood that cost less and have comparable quality food, but don't have the nice dining room that Rani has.
Pros: friendly service, ambience
Cons: a bit pricey, food could be better
