I ue the Asgard in Cambridge for takeout. I'm getting the impression they would prefer not to do it, which is fine, but tell customers you don't do take out. I usually sit at the bar and have 2 glassed o wine while I wait. I enjoy a nice buzz while I walk home....they do have some great dishes if you want heavy food...but, I ordered the fish tacos tonight and they came with many fires (not on the menu) and very little of the vegetables it said it came with. I was in the mood for a good fish taco with napa cabbage and coleslaw as it advertied....it came with french fries, lot's of sauce, and a few shreds of lettuce, the rest of the plate was full of fries...
They have fabulus shephards pie and other warm weaher stables which I love, but they are lacking in the fresh veggeies, and I won't go there again unless I want a heavy meal with no veggies....
- Pros: good warm weather food, more of a bar than a restaurant
- Cons: lacking fresh veggies,
Go for food not to meet people

You come here if you're hungry. The food is okay, but nothing amazing. It's not crowded at all. I've been here three times and all three times it was pretty empty.
Also it's an Irish bar, but the food isn't Irish.
Nice Place...

Asgard is a nice bar/restaurant, with friendly staff, pleasant bar food and nice beverages. But for those looking for a more traditional Irish bar, this is not really the place.
- Pros: Pleasant food, Nice drinks, Good friendly service
- Cons: Not a true Irish bar
WORST SERVICE EVER!
by joedempsky
On a recent visit, we waited at our table for over 75 minutes for food at the Asgard. Our waiter - who stopped by to take our orders after 30 minutes - had the attitude that he was doing us a great favor, and actually abandoned for good afterwards (we were subsequently served by two other waitresses, and the food wasn't even good). Overall, probably the worst service I've ever had in Boston or Cambridge - literally fit for a sitcom.
Large, multi-faceted Irish pub serves up cold drinks and live tunes to the MIT area with a smile.

In Short
With a welcoming interior that was designed in Ireland and features lots of warm woods and exposed brick, the Asgard provides Central Square workers and MIT academics with a relaxed spot for an after-work drink. Weekend nights feature live music or DJs, and there are TVs at the bar for sports fans. A lengthy food menu features everything from pub favorites (Guinness stew, shepherd's pie) to international fare like Bombay spring rolls.
My kind of place....

True an authentic Irish pub should be crowded, dark, noisy and smokey. If you like that ...the Asgard is not for you. I found it nicely full but not bumper to bumper, well lit, quiet with good music and no smoke. The food was good, the beer was cold and the service was attentive. My kind of place.
- Pros: New, clean, quiet, Good food/cold beer, Good service.
- Cons: , A bit pricey, Could be TGIF's
