Little King Ltd. is absolutely amazing. Michael, Jennifer, and Angela immediately made us feel at home, and listened intently to what we wanted for our wedding bands. I'd brought along some concept sketches, and all three immediately went to work on how to best bring the ideas into reality. Michael quickly came up with some great ideas, and Jennifer helped us choose the right stone, seamlessly blending her practical advice with Michael's creative genius. Throughout the process of bringing these rings into solid form, Jennifer, Michael, and Angela gave us options within our budget, while also explaining what could be done for a little more money. This was done without pushing, pitching, or up-selling: We were specific about what we wanted and they, in turn, gave us several ways in which it could be realized. They also gave us accurate time estimates and delivered each stage of fabrication as promised. In the end, two exquisite rings were created; true to what I'd envisioned but all the more magnificent because of the thought, creativity, and artistic skill that had gone into making them. Michael and his staff took my concept and ran with it, improving upon it while staying true to the specifics. Were I a trained goldsmith, I could not have made the rings any more perfect, beautiful or truer to what I'd seen in my mind. The rings literally took my breath away, and elicited a similar reaction from my girlfr... wife when I presented them to her. They fit us perfectly - both our fingers and our personalities. A far cry from the dark, sleazy feeling we got just walking down 47th street, Michael, Jennifer, and Angela have created a space that feels warm and welcoming. Their personalities are open, fun, and sincere. These are honest businesspeople and artists - people who obviously care about what they are doing and love doing it. We recommend them highly, and look forward to visiting, and doing business with them again in the future!

Pros: Great Customer Service, wonderful people to deal with, talented artisans and honest businesspeople!

My boyfriend and I had been discussing rings for a few weeks when I stumbled upon Little King on this site. The reviews were so great and their website is so amazing that I knew I had to at least visit their shop. I had looked online exhaustively for rings, we went to the diamond district, Zales, you name it. Everything I tried on was lovely, but completely impersonal and overpriced. Nothing felt representative of us as a couple. We went to Little King on a rainy Saturday. It's a tiny shop in the East Village and it was a little tough to find. We met with Jennifer and she unlocked the cases and advised me to try on whatever looked interesting. So I did. Throughout the process I was sure I wanted white gold, until I saw their stunning rose gold rings. My boyfriend then worked with her (quite secretively) until they came up with the right design, which he had cast in rose gold with a rose-cut diamond. The ring is absolutely beautiful and there is nothing about it I would change. He reported great service from the people at Little King, with no delays. I have a gorgeous custom-made ring that was reasonably priced. Thank you to Jennifer and Michael. I wish you tons of success in the future; you deserve it.

Pros: selection of jewelry, service, craftsmanship

Cons: none that I know of

Michael and Jennifer at Little King are simply the best. Going to Little King is more like visiting friends than going to a business. We got our wedding rings and other items there, and each time we go they always remember us and take great care of us. On top of this, the style of their work is completely unique, one-of-a-kind, and fantastic. They will work with you to help you get just the right piece, and make sure you can do what you want within your budget. If you are looking for something special, totally unique, and hand-crafted, Little King is the place.

Pros: Unique designs, helpful staff, will work within your budget.

Cons: None.

These guys are all great. Not only is friendly service is a given, but the quality and timeliness of their work is amazing. I recently went to them with a few vague ideas for an engagement ring for my fiancee and they helped me tremendously even suggesting customizing a ring meant for a differently cut diamond. Because my fiancee lives in Canada and my next trip was coming up, I had a very hard deadline for when the ring needed to be done and they easily beat the date. Most importantly, my fiancee loved the ring and is so happy! We're definitely going here to get our wedding bands...and I imagine much more jewelry in the future. If you are looking for a custom piece or something beautiful and original you owe it to yourselves to check out Little King.

Pros: service, craftsmanship

Cons: the space is small so it can get pretty hectic sometimes - but they do their best and traffic ebbs and flows

So my fiance and I had my engagement ring made at Little King.. and it looks AMAZING! I went into the shop (after doing A LOT of research) with a picture of what I wanted, approx. how many stones I wanted, that I wanted a sapphire in the center, etc.. we decided on a sapphire that they had in the shop ~ which is the perfect color blue in every light! I talked about the design I had in mind, showed them the photo and all I had to say was keep it similar to this photo, but put your own spin on it. and exactly 4 weeks to the day, the ring was finished! When my fiance went back to purchase the sapphire they gave him an estimated timeframe to contact them by ~ I had heard of little king before via the knot.. and some of the brides raved about the quality but mentioned that you needed to keep in touch with them often since they are very busy... and that is exactly what he did... and we had no problems with them AT ALL! When he finally proposed the ring was everything I dreamed of, and I get compliments on it constantly! I am REALLY happy with it, the quality, and with the service. I plan on getting our wedding band designed from them as well! My main tip of advice, is just to stay on top of it, call them when they say to call them, and make sure to make yourself known to Jennifer and Michael (the owners) they have alot of clients and I can understand how trying to remember everything ALL the time can get hard... so just have a voice, they will hear it! I love this place and would recommend them to anyone!

I do not recommend them because despite the reviews and the various assurances you may receive from them, there is no guarantee that they will deliver. I went to Little King around the spring of 2007 for a engagement ring. Based on the reviews, I thought I would be getting attentive service. When I visited, Michael assured me that he would email me a design in approximatley 6-8 weeks. It is now February 2008. Over the past 10-11 months I have sent them emails asking for the design, or at least a status report, and received assurances that the design will be coming. I have still yet to see a design and I'm not holding my breath that I'll ever see one.

Pros: Wouldn't know -- they didn't deliver

Cons: Failed to deliver

I went to Little King to buy an engagement ring after reading all the wonderful recommendations on how honest and well they treat customers. From the moment I walked in I felt taken advantage of. I immediately explained that I was not interested in playing games. I had a set budget, parameters for what I wanted, and there was no wiggle room. I was told "No problem, that's absolutely workable." Three visits later I was magically told I would need to double my budget. The inconsistencies: 1) Platinum is as cheap as gold these days b/c gold is at an all time high. Not true. While gold is at an all time high, platinum is still 3 or 4 times more expensive. 2) We won't charge extra to re-size. Yes, they will. 3) We can do this specific ring for 2k. (Second visit it became 3k...third visit it became 4k) The quality of their stuff is good and I can see why people love it...but you have to have money to spend and not mind paying double for retail as opposed to wholesale in the diamond district.

Pros: Interesting, different unique pieces.

Cons: Typical shady staff, inconsistent pricing, high retail

Response from this business

Sorry, I dispute all this!

I really wish those who are disappointed would speak directly to me before writing these reviews. #1, there is NO WAY anyone here would have equated platinum to gold. PALLADIUM was about equal in price to gold (for finished goods), perhaps you heard us wrong? #2, we DON'T charge to resize, it doesn't do us or you any good for you to not wear our jewelry. It must fit, and we will size it at no charge for a reasonable amount of time. I don't know anyone who will size rings at no cost after the owner has been wearing it for a year or more. #3, I have no control over metal prices and stone costs, which is the only reason we would have increased the price, other than if you radically changed the design. Most of my customers are more than pleased with the final product as well as the cost. I would have preferred to try to fix this misunderstanding on the spot so everyone is happy, but you did not give me the chance.

I love jewelry -- and I love Little King. It's like going to a restaurant where the chef comes out and discusses the dish with you -- what a dream! Jennifer and Michael not only know what they are doing, but they know that your input is essential for a happy outcome. So, together -- using your fantasy about what you want -- and their expertise, patience and huge talent, you'll find you have created the perfect piece of jewelry for you. The pieces I have from Little King are beautiful, I love them, and best of all, I get compliments on them every time I wear them! (Which is the point, of course!) This is a wonderful place -- Jennifer has the patience of a saint, she and Michael are both artists -- you'll walk out of there with a great piece of jewelry, and you'll have a great time! Cost: In a pretty shop like this, you might expect to be intimidated into spending more than you can afford -- not so. Jenny and Michael respect your budget and will work with you to make something gorgeous -- without taking you to the cleaners. This is a great place run by great people -- from "vibe" to workmahsnip, it's the best!

I had a custom engagement ring made, using a diamond from my fiance's mother. On the plus side: knowledgeable, personable, very friendly staff; very open to your ideas; they do beautiful work. On the negative side, procrastinators beware: you do have to follow up on these folks if you want prompt service. They have a tendency to let things slide unless you're reminding them, say maybe every couple of weeks. But I was pleased on the whole and would do business with them again.

Pros: Range of work: you can get items here you can't find elsewhere.

Cons: They tend not to hurry unless you rush them.
