Have fun

by trooper123 at Citysearch

I read the scandalous reviews on this stable. It made me frightened at what I would see. I thought I needed to bring a pitch fork to fight off the wicked owner. I went there to see for myself what this wicked place was like. I was truly frightened of the unknown. Snicker. I flew in on my broom. The stalls were clean. The horses looked great. I loved it!!!!!!!! I am sure that after meeting me the poor barn will never be the same again. I felt a warm fuzzy feeling when I was there. Just great people. Every barn has the cattiness going on. TRy wellbutrin..It works!!!!!!!!!!!! Go there. It is fine. You will not be held hostage. I liked it so much I might move into the barn myself. I think I still have a tent!!!!!!

From Bad to Worse!!

by Ugh at Citysearch

Barn was good at one point years ago. This place is NUTS! People are all NUTS! The grounds are a complete MESS! Not well cared for and thank god I don't need to listen to the Drunk Guy anymore. That man would cuss in front of my Children and be constantly drunk. Not a place for children or women or Horses.

I have to say the all the horses were in good condition but the people were horrible to be around. Don't leave your children alone there for the day.

  • Pros: Not boarding there anymore
  • Cons: Don't have time to list them all!

Non Truths

by HoldURHorses at Citysearch

I have to disagree with the last three reviews. I know all of these people and the weird thing is that they all talk bad about each other. I have to remain annonomous for my horses safety. I can't afford to move yet but looking forward to getting away from all the Catty people at this barn. A barn is suppose to be relaxing but you constantly need to watch your back here. Too many phony people that case so many problems. Please do not bring your kids or horses here. Many other nicer places to board and enjoy. This is not the place for you.

  • Pros: close to City
  • Cons: People, People & People

A few bad apples can not spoil the whole bunch

by Cap at Citysearch

Like Jody An Paul I am also A very Happy boarder at Indian Rock Stables. My name is Cathy Patti and my horses name is Rusty. I have been at this barn for a little over two years and plan to stay. My horse is always feed properly and his stall is kept clean, his water & feed buckets are constanly cleaned and there is no problem with them feeding him supplements every day (for no extra charge). This family has been through a lot ( the Husband/Father passed away suddenly on 12/26/08) and they have been unable to greive properly because of the negativity of a few people. This family has never missed a beat in taking care of the farm and the horses to the exclusion of there greif in losing a great man. They are determined and will succeed in making Indain Rock Stables one of the best horse facilities in the state. I want them and eveyone else to know that my horse is well taken care of and I have no complaints, The family that works there was hand picked by the owner because of ther knowledge. caring and experience with horses and they do a fantastic job often going above and beyond. Improvements are always being made and the property is well maintened, I have made some lasting friendships that I treasure and everyone is there 1st and foremost for the horses. We all help each other and it is wonderful to see the famlies who bring children there to grow and learn how to be successful horse owners. The woman (Julie) that manages the riding program is fantastic and all of her students not only learn to ride but how to take care of the horses. There is also another level of riding instruction for horse owners who want to show there horses, Jessica the trainer does a great job with this group of the kids as well as adults have a fantatic time. You can tell by all the ribbons thet bring home from the shows. This is what the owners want is everyone to come and enjoy the barn and this negativity has got to stop it does no good because all of us and there are many, are not leaving and will do what we can to support the barn and family. I am proud of Indian Rock Stables.

  • Pros: Caring, nuturning horse facility
  • Cons: Negative people

Lot to say about Everyone with Bad Comments Please Read

by JodySwindle at Citysearch

First off, I want to say, that I am not hiding from anyone, I have been at this barn for almost 10 years, and like all things, has ups and downs, not like what these people are saying. This barn is a real nice barn, I came just after it was built, one year later, so I don't know why you idiots call it a hole, it is very bright and the stalls have windows, look at some of the other barns, they don't, the horses are happy and well fed. The stalls get cleaned once a day, so if you come up, some might be dirtier than others, one of my horses pees alot, So please don't say they are filthy, most borders go up at night to clean again, like myself. The guys that work there, work hard and the grounds are kept very clean, and they do deserve a day off, which is Sunday. Most of the borders are very friendly and helpful, but sometimes are cautious to strangers walking in like it's a petting zoo, and giving treats, some horses can not have them like my own who had surgery back in April and it very akward trying to get your horse around the barn when you have people standing in the aisle, that don't know enough to move. It is private property! And has anyone of you heard the news about the man going around stealing horses. Look into it, I'm sure you would be cautious too! As far as that the owner goes, she is very good to the horses and knowledgeable, it is because that she is always out and around that my horse survived a huge colic and she stayed with me the whole time and took us to the hospital, without asking for a dime, you name someone who would do that for you, half the time barns are left unattended all day. Someone is always here, and the owner gets up during the night to check on them. Tell me what is bad about that? To the people who are bitter, it's usually that at one time you wanted to be a cheif here, and then you couldn't get your own way or again if you owed money or were just another barn idiot, everyplace has one. And to those of you who judge a book by the cover, apparently you don't know what it's all about. Take a look at all the horses winning the pinto and paint shows people, they are all from here, Oh and yes I do love my horses that's why I bored here, and will for many more years, I LOVE THE FACT THAT MY HORSE IS OVERSEEN 24/7. MY HORSE IS ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE OWNER. Remember that next time your horse has colic, will someone save him or her, if you are not around. This is someplace you would want to be.

  • Pros: Near to Everything, Friendly people, Happy Horses
  • Cons: People who complain about this place, who don't know jack

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS REVIEW

by PaulArnold at Citysearch

First off, I have boarded here for years and have watched all of you come and go. Okay, Most of the postings that are on this comment site are containing falsehoods or incomplete truths. Entering the boarding process you are informed of the managements responsibilities for the reasonable board. Therefore you are made aware of your own responsibilities re turnout.! I have known that paid turnout was available and have opted to utilize that service from time to time. You as a boarder are also informed that the three staff personell under the management supervision feeds 7 days per week am/pm and mucks the stalls 6 days a week. If you wish your stall mucked on Sunday that is your choice and made clear from the beginning. The grounds are raked daily. Space is limited almost anywhere you go in the northeast as far as boarding goes, most of you should visit other barns to see this for yourself. Remember to compare apples to apples. Some ponies may have smaller stalls due to their smaller size and that is a no brainer; but those ponies are used daily for lessons and are therefore excersided well before going home for the night. All of you know me, I have three children and are there quite often. I have not hidden my identity behind a screen name, you all know I have two horses. One is my daughters horse. When adult boarders are with my daughter they all respect that she is young and try to watch their language. Cussing, cursing or foul language can slip from the lips of the best of us from time to time. An excuse me or apology is sufficient in the real world for a slip of the tongue; why should anybody in this barn expect more than reality. Anyone that has left this boarding facility with ill feelings has posted comments that can be hurtful to all of us there; boarders and owners alike. Slanderous comments to endanger the livelyhood of a family business is unexceptable! Those who comment falsey or grossly exagerate about bad experiences should be ashamed of themselves. Simply, if you are unhappy where you are, it is your choice to better your experience by finding a place that fulfills all your desires. Many people gathering in one place are bound to expose personality conflicts. As adults it is our responsiblity to act appropriate. Choose your association at any facility the way you would in the real world, by compatability. Safety is addressed here as well. There are eticate rules in place for the grounds and the ring. Dogs are not allowed on the property for the saftey of the horses and riders as dogs can be disturbing to the horses or the rider. Drinking alcohol is not allowed at the facility unless a sponsered event is happening. Rules are rules and only as good as the person or people that are supposed to adhere to them. Facility managers do not have GODLIKE powers to control all, but do their best to ensure saftey and rule compliance. This facility is cleaner by far than most I have personally visited and I have visited facilities that exiting boarders have gone to. The instruction availabe here is top notch whether you prefer english style or western style equitation. The instructors are professional and knowledgeable as well as courteous. My young daughter has developed a knowledge of equine care and riding here that allows her to enjoy ring riding, trail riding, and award winning show riding. This instruction is available to all ages. There is a strong camaraderie among all of the people that love and properly care for the animal they chose to take responsibility for and it is a responsibility of theirs. I HAVE NOT HIDDEN MY IDENTITY BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE. If you choose to visit this facility by all means ask for me Paul, and I will be happy to show you where my family and I have chosen to spend our time enjoying our horses for years. NOTHING IS PERFECT, AND IT IS EVERYONES RESPONSIBILITY TO BE PROPERLY INFORMED BEFORE MAKING DECISIONS BASED ON EITHER CRITICISM OR PRAISE IN REGARD TO ANY FACILITY.

  • Pros: Constant effort, Location, Trail options, Proper instruction
  • Cons: Suppose that depends on what you are looking for!

AVOID -AVOID-AVOID

by tackyhorse at Citysearch

I agree with the previous review. I used to board there and was appalled at the way the owner trys to control the boarders. Horses DO NOT get turned out everyday unless you go and turn your horse out yourself. There are also a lot of people there that I just did not want my children exposed to. If I had known about the reviews I NEVER would have boarded there in the first place-Please beileve the negative reviews !!

  • Pros: I got out as soon as I saw the chance
  • Cons: Not a friendly place at all !!!!!

Let's be Honest

by BeHonest at Citysearch

When I first arrived everything was wonderful. The woman owner was very friendly. After a few months I noticed a drastic change in her temperment and the way the barn was managed. I opted out with a 30 day notice. The last 30 days at the barn was pure hell. When the day came for me to load up my horse and trailer out she would not let me on the property with my trailor. Other people there said that whenever someone decides to leave on good or bad terms she makes it a living hell. There are other nice places to go without the nasty hassels.

Wonderful place...

by bigtrot at Citysearch

For the contrary...all stalls on premise are at least 12x12 others are 12x14....all with windows and some with turnout paddocks connected! All horses get turned out daily. So how can stalls be dark and small? The property is maintained daily...all stalls are cleaned everyday...grounds are raked and dragged....hay and shavings are trucked in from Canada...nothing but the best! Very friendly and knowlegable people...horses are all in great shape....I don't undertand this critisism about the horses not being taken care of? If you truley went there you would have noticed that they have a string of show horses that compete all over the nation and were top in the country...if their horses were in such bad condition can you explain how this could be possible?....Yes I said NATION....not showing at a show down the street. But all the way to Oklahoma!

Oh and lastly....for those who said the barn is falling down...? The barn was built 11 years ago...its practically brand new!

  • Pros: great location/grounds/staff/horses
  • Cons: none
