I work in the restaurant industry and give exceptional service so i expect the same when I dine in upscale establishments. My fiance and I were celebrating our two year anniversary. I requested a bottle of champagne for the table and our server never once acknowledged our special occasion, never introduced herself and was very unattentive. She walked by our dirty dishes numerous times and bread was served with the appetizers. After we finished eating the appetizers she walked by several times before taking our dinner order. When presenting us with the dessert menu she placed it at the table and quickly walked away. It was just very unimpressive and a letdown as far as the service. The food however was an 8 out of 10 and I was pleased with the martini and wine selection. I wish there were more dessert wines and ports. Overall I don't have too many complaints. Request a booth, the tables and chairs were odd.

Cons: service was terrible

I used to really love this place when going with my girlfriend before a show or with clients. It is very nice inside and the service is very good. However, the food has gotten much more average over the past couple of years, which is dissapointing. I will agree with the best calamari statement though! It is a nice atmosphere but I wish that the food was as good as it was a couple of years ago..

Usually eat here a handful of times when I come up (from NY) on business. I have also returned when in Boston for personal trips. The food is reasonably priced, as it has quality ingredients well-cooked and well-seasoned! The salads are a good portion and the dressing is lightly coated! The calamari is THE BEST CALAMARI in Boston (IMHO) but the accompanying lemon dip is kinda gross (not my thing). All the pizzas are terrific - esp with sea salt - smoky (coal oven?) and thin makes for delicious, finger-licking goodness. The grilled sirloin is always solid. The pasta with bolognese sauce is hearty and filling, yet not too heavy. The pork chop (ask if they have it) is juicy and moist! The chocolate gelato (or is it sorbet?) tastes like if you froze nestlee quick chocolate milk. Yummmmm! Recently, I dined alone (biz trip) and my waiter was gracious, always checking on me, never making me feel conscious of dining alone (thanks, Omar!).

Pros: Great ambiance, RELIABLE GOOD FOOD, easy to get an online reservation, good location

Cons: Can be loud- but it's EQUALLY fun for a big group or a romantic dinner!!

I was skeptical about eating in a place in the Theatre District that included a reference to the theatre, but it was NOT a disappointment... The manager, David, was wonderful immediately upon entering and it was consistently great from that point on. The bar's pretty small, however, so make a reservation. Try the Crispy Calamari with Lemon Aioli, the Truffled Mushroom Ravioli with Chanterelles, Asparagus & Marsala, and the Papas Fritti with Parmesan. They're all great. Service was invisible---my favorite. Go anytime--except Monday....they're closed. (:

Pros: food & service are fantastic

Cons: small bar and hard to get in on the weekends

A friend and I decided to have dinner at Teatro before going to The Nutcracker; out of all the restaurants within proximity of the Opera House, it seemed like the best choice for our budget. The service was good. You could tell that the wait staff had been trained. But the food was mediocre and ultimately disappointing. The chicken milanese was just a slab of fried chicken with parmesan cheese on top with a huge side of bitter greens (and not easy to cut up with a dull knife!). Any $20+ entree should leave a better impression than that. We were treated very well by our waiter, up until the point that we received the bill. My friend and I split the check. I paid with a credit card, and she paid with cash. But he never brought us any change! He was presumptuous enough to give himself a $19 tip (over 20%), and he wasn't worth it. At that point we didn't have time to sort it out because we didn't want to be late for the show. So, needless to say, I wouldn't go back again.

Pros: Close to theater district

Cons: Too expensive for quality

Teatro is an excellent restaurant. The staff are unpretentious, friendly, you can be casually dressed, we have never ordered something we didn't like, and we go there almost every week. I highly recommend it! The only thing is that it is lively, so not good if you need a quiet, intimate space.

Pros: Great staff, fast service, unpretentious

Cons: none!

While the menu and quality of food here was good, the service is what floored me. Everyone we met that worked there (and at least 4 people introduced themselves) was extremely knowledgeable and courteous. Truly professionals in their field. The ambiance and décor are unique and intriguing, but good luck getting to the restrooms if you are physically or sobriety impaired.

Pros: Service, ambience

Cons: value, restroom accessibility

Drunk on St. Patricks Day (about 9pm) and NEEDING Italian food, the concierge at our hotel sent us here. It was beautiful, we were seated right away, and even tho I was still dressed for a pub and knocked over the host's podium when I walked in, they were still all very cool to us. Had the best, and I mean THE BEST bolognese I've ever had. The host, and the manager came by to see if we were loving our food (since it was their reccomendation to get the bolo.) and I wish I could go back SOBER sometime and enjoy it more!! = )

Pros: beautiful decor, Bolognese, staff

With 200 reservations the service at 5-7:00 p.m. was superb! The waitress knew that VOX vodka was in fact top shelf vodka for a hot tub martini and also realized the difference between Pinot Nero and Valpolicello Chianti to recommend the Pinot Nero with the shrimp, tomatoes, and garlic which was perfect. The mussels were "shelled" in a smoked tomato and pesto sauce and toasted bread. This must have taken a considerable time of the sous chef, bravo!!! My husband and his friend ordered the smoked chicken lasagna with smoked mozzarella; and they are both beef eaters and spent the evening raving about how good the food was which made me happy and relieved. Better yet, the service was so good we were out in time to enjoy the fireworks that were displayed on the Boston Common for First Night at 7 p.m., terrific!!! Opentable for reserv.

Pros: Great wait staff, Know the wine list, Know the menu

Cons: Need a reservation, seatd near toilet 1st, Bad parking near park

Do not sit at the bar. The older woman is cold and unfriendly. She will only pay attention to you if you order food and a lot of wine. I go to Teatro with my wife, friends, and clients. I give plenty of business and in return just want to feel welcome regardless of how much money I am spending. There used to be an Italian girl there, who we were told has left. She always made my wife and I feel at home, that she enjoyed being our friend on top of being our bartender. Only sit at the bar if you see her, she will care.

Pros: food, price, excellent waiters

Cons: bar service, loud
