Perfect for our four legged friends
by Miclyne at Citysearch
Four Paws and a Leash is such a wonderful place for dogs to go and play while you are either away for a day or several. Dennis takes the best care of my Diesel, a french bulldog. She is always very excited to go and is always happy when I get her back, tired but happy. She is only tired because she has such a wonderful time. She is either picked up and dropped off at my home or I can drop her off and pick her up, whatever is most convenient for me. Being a frenchie she has special requirements to not over heat and has a sensitive tummy by nature. She has never had any problems staying at Four Paws and a Leash. Diesel is always a happy puppy. It is a wonderful place for your favorite pet to stay.... Thank you for always loving her almost as much as I do....
- Pros: Best time for my Diesel
Services Beyond the Leash ...
by Bostrvlr at Citysearch
I have used this company since it started. I travel a lot and need to have Mario walked on short stays and boarded when I go on my long trips. I like how Mario has interactions with his friends when he stays there. There have been times I needed help in a pinch (last minute travel plans) and they have accommodated my last minute requests every time. I would recommend without hesitation.... as would Mario :)
- Pros: Attentive, Accomodating, Pick-up service, Helps me with last minute requests.
- Cons: Frequency of newsletter with helpful tips can be increased.
Far Beyond just dog walkers, and more like family.

I wanted to take this opportunity to tell everyone about the great service that Four Paws And A Leash provided us with for the last 3 years. Knowing that Cooper was always in good hands made it easier to
go about our day to day routines without missing a beat. Also, the flexibility they showed us in making very last minute plans proved to be most helpful when we needed them most.
I strongly feel that what Four Paws and a Leash does for their clients and community is a valuable and necessary service. I looked for a way to recommend an award but I can't seem to find "world's best dog walker" anywhere. We hope to find a service even half as great as Four Paws And A Leash in California.
- Pros: personable, caring, attentive, reliable, helpful, able to help last minute all the time
- Cons: none
Something is really wrong with this place
by southendjen at Citysearch
We boarded our two dogs at Four Paws and a Leash a couple of times. We will never use this service again. We recently dropped the dogs off on a Friday and picked them up on Sunday. Since we did not know exactly what time we would be back in town on Sunday, the owner of Four Paws instructed me to call him 30 minutes in advance. I called multiple times with no answer. I then walked up the steps to the front door, called again, and still no answer. I rang the doorbell, with no answer. Then I received a call on my cell phone from the owner, but no one was there when I answered my phone. Finally, he came to the door in his pajamas and said that he hadn't gotten out of bed yet. It was FOUR in the afternoon. There was no one else in the house. There were multiple dogs barricaded in the living room with the window shades down. Most of the dogs, including one of ours, were wearing bark collars. We did not supply the owner with this collar and under no circumstances permitted him to put this on our dog. There were a few bone-dry water dishes in the room. Feces were scattered about. As if it couldn't get worse, he could not find one of our dogs' harnesses and said that he had last seen it yesterday.....ie. the dogs had not been walked in at least 24 hours. When I finally brought my dogs home, they drank literally gallons of water because they clearly had not had anything to drink all day. This place is horrible. I feel terrible about leaving my dogs there, and I hope that this review will save other animals from being tortured by Four Paws.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Lack of water, filthy environment, bark collars without permission
Most reliable dog walking service
by SBostonres at Citysearch
We have been using 4paws for 3 years now for our 8 year old dog. We love the service, they are very reliable, care for your pets and trustworthy. Our dog has a scheduled walk 1-2 days a week. The same walker Chris came and left notes for us on how our dog was, who he walked with and anything we should be concerned with.
What was also great was they are able to help out in a pinch during emergencies. Four Paws and a Leash provides an excellent service.
- Pros: walkers enjoy their job, and love the animals, great value for walks
The only place I'll leave my dog!
by drmackehrens at Citysearch
I have never written a review before, but Four Paws and a Leash deserves the praise and my unconditional recommendation. I was first referred to Four Paws and a Leash by my vet's office for training for my hyperactive, independent pup. The training was great and now I also have the best place to board my little guy! I no longer feel guilty about leaving him when I have to go away because I know he won't be locked up in a crate with no one around all night long. I don't have to worry about whether he's happy or getting enough exercise. I know he's getting great care and attention. And it's the only place he's ever come home from tired out and wanting to sleep. Dennis and company have been accommodating and understanding -even on short notice in an emergency. You can't do better for you or your dog!
- Pros: Caring, knowledgeable, trustworthy, helpful
- Cons: None
My dog might just prefer boarding than home!!!
by megandcal at Citysearch
I am an extremely over protective dog owner, and when my dog stays with 4 Paws I don't worry about her, period. She has the time of her life there, and sleeps hard when returning home. She gets the royal treatment and often times hangs in the office with them. In fact, when picking her up, she never looks back and charges straight towards the car...breaks a mom's heart!!! They are also extremely flexible. Occasionally I need last minute dog walking or day care, and they always accomodate. I can't recommend them enough!!!!
Excellent Pet Sitting (Cat)
by alexanderb at Citysearch
I was an overly nervous pet owner when I left my cat for the week. Before this experience, I had only left him with people I knew- this was the first time I left his care to a stranger. I looked on city search and found particularly positive reviews for Four Paws and a Leash. After I met and spoke to Dennis, I felt very comfortable with leaving him with my cat (and my keys).
I could not be happier with the job Dennis did. He took the time to listen to all of my arguably unreasonable fears (and did not make me feel like they were unreasonable), and called me a few days after I left. I was very appreciative for this, since it is a cat and cats are expected to do well on their own. For me, having someone check in on my cat was as much for my benefit as it was for his- otherwise, I would have spent a lot of time worrying.
My cat is not used to being left alone- but when I came home he was very calm and happy (not how I am used to finding him after I leave him). I am very grateful for the job that Four Paws and a Leash did, and would not hesitate to use them again. Their service took a lot of anxiety out of making travel plans.
- Pros: trustworthy, reasonably priced, dependable
- Cons: none that i came across
Great customer service
by biogirl5579 at Citysearch
The first time I used Dennis's cat sitting service I was quite displeased. We have given him a second and third chance to correct the original problems and I have been really thrilled with the change in service.
Leaving pets with a stranger is a hard thing to do. Dennis made my recent vacation (2/24/08-2/29/08) extra relaxing knowing that my cats were in good hands. I would highly recommend his service. If there is ever a problem, he is more than willing to resolve it.
- Pros: Great communication
Wonderful Care of your Dog
by jrenna at Citysearch
We are so crazy about Four Paws - they have been nothing but wonderful to our dog Cooper! They have been a part of his life from when he was just a baby thru private training sessions and helped two
overwhelmed parents with the basics including how to make Coop walk when he did not want to and help a
picky puppy to eat. The relationship has developed into daily walks as well as weekend visits. It is so nice to have someone love your dog as much as you do and it is obvious in their attention and care for our dog. Our dog happens to have an illness where he requires medicine 3 times a day, a daunting task for
some, but not Dennis and Rich. They have gladly taken that task on while we are away and it so nice to be able to relax knowing that he is getting the best care. Not to mention that Cooper is so crazy about these guys that he hardly looks back when they come to get him. As first time dog owners, these guys have been such a resource. I would highly recommend all of their services. They truly are the best of Boston!
