First time customer

by Citifood

I ran over to this place today for lunch for the first time. I have no idea how a Thai place can get Pad Thai soooo

wrong. It had to be the worst meal I have ever had the displeasure of paying for. You've been warned...save your money and your time.

  • Pros: Now I know better than to ever go back
  • Cons: food tasted like it came from a basement

Rude waitstaff that demands a 20% tip

by bostone22

Used to enjoy this place on occasion, but had a bad experience with a waitress who demanded a 20% tip. A friend and I paid individually and made an honest mistake. She could've pointed it out and asked if this was what we meant to put down. I would've gladly made the correction. Because she was demanding and rude about it, I was completely turned off and refuse to go back: There are better restaurants with polite wait staff who don't feel so entitled. Last i checked, tips were based on service and at the discretion of the customer.

  • Pros: prices
  • Cons: bad service

doable

by freewilly7

had better, but it's doable. prices are reasonable for a joint that's located in the middle of the city. still like penang's (chinatown) satay better, though.

:)

  • Pros: fewer people = less wait!
  • Cons: parking could be difficult

keep searching for thai food - this ain't it.

by easl

i was visiting boston for a long weekend, and, after walking my feet off to see the sights, thought to order in thai food. mistake.

it took an hour to get the food. when it arrived it was lukewarm. the pad thai had no flavor, was dry, clumpy and the shrimp were mealy - absolutely disgusting. the other dish (beef with hot basil leaves) was a bit better with the exception that the beef looked gray and boiled. big disappointment.

i recommend finding another restaurant.

  • Pros: they deliver to your hotel
  • Cons: but the food is so bad it might be better to go out

Tropical oasis of dependable, affordable Thai in the shadow of the Hynes Convention Center.

by Eric Grossman

The Scene
The dining room, with its murals and tropical colors, makes for a delightfully upbeat yet calm atmosphere. That calm may not extend to diners' taste buds --there's a lot of spice on the menu. Luckily, ultra-attentive waiters are always on the lookout for empty water glasses.

The Food
The expansive, easy to navigate menu offers something for everyone, even those averse to typical Thai flavors like curry and peanut. Starter plates of crunchy spring rolls or vegetable tempura are perfect for sharing, while fiery hot and sour soup is balanced by refreshing lime shrimp salad. Green and red curry dishes pack a whale of a punch; gentler palates should opt for chicken with cashew nuts, or crispy roasted duck with peanut sauce. Quality's high across the board, though the pork and beef used in most dishes isn't exactly lean. Fruity desserts (go with the chilled rambutan) provide a light finish.

Our favorite restaurant!!!

by kszal

Since moving to Boston 3.5 years ago, we probably go to Chilli Duck once every two weeks. It is AWESOME. Everything on the menu is great - we particularly like the papaya salad, chicken satays, chilli duck, and hot basil dishes. :)

a basement is a basement

by hoainhan

I tried their signature dish, Chilli Duck. It was just terrible. The duck was too chewy. The sauce was just nasty. I couldn't eat, but the waitstaff did not concern. Well, I paid, and left without finishing 1/3 of the portion.

  • Cons: improve food, improve service

Good Eats

by sugar_bear

Went here for the first time after passing through before. I had the Pad-Se-Iew Noodles, which was absolutely delicious. The servings were good even for take-out and I didn't have to wait too long. I like how all the dishes are delicately garnish, it makes eating the food so much appealing. I have to go back and try the other dishes with such a variety. Prices are reasonable and I would definitely recommend this Thai restaurant as a gem.

  • Pros: Inexpensive, courteous, friendly
  • Cons: , small interior

Jack Talk Thai For This Place!

by croce13

I have been living in Boston for five years and was looking for an awesome Thai restaurant until just recently when I found this place!! The food is by far the best and they offer free delivery and takeout which makes this place truly a gem. I recommend any of the duck dishes (the chili duck is alittle too spicy for me), and the Drunken Noodle dish is to die for. Standards like Pad Thai, spring rolls, tempura are above par as well. Prices are alittle more expensive than some other places that say they serve authentic Thai, but very worth spending an extra couple of bucks.
