I don't understand these negitive reviews. The service was good, the staff was friendly, the food was great, and the draft beer was cold. what more could you want?

i met up with a bunch of friends on a friday night after work in the summer. we ordered a bunch of apps but i will still a little hungry and wanted a ceasar salad. they had a shrimp special and i asked if i could have a few pieces of shrimp on my salad for a few extra bucks and they said no. i didnt think it was that outrageous of a request but apparently it was a big deal. i didnt order anything else b/c i thought we were leaving. about an hour later we were still there and i was still hungry, so i ordered a veggie burger. 45 minutes after that, i hadn't gotten it and when i asked about it, the waitress said she forgot to put in the order. oops. anyways, we asked for the bill (which was about $300 for our group) and she didnt offer to comp anything for the forgotten veggie burger. it just seemed that since we spent so much on food and drinks they could have made up for the burger. oh well. it's the little things like that that let you know what kind of business it is. probably won't go back again.
- Pros: good location, not that crowded
- Cons: bad service, food was just ok
Yum!!

Just down the street from the State House, easy waslking distance from the Common, this place is a standard Irish Pub, but with more than the standard fare! Beer selection was decent, and prices good for the city. Menu had all the Irish basics--fish n chips, clam chowder etc. (which btw was very good!) plus several burger choices, and buffalo chicken nachos!!! They were extremely good, and extremely spicy! If I ordered them again, i'd ask for less sauce on the nachos, and to bring it on the side instead b/c the bottom was completely drenched. The majority of the waitstaff were Irish in birth and accent, which of course automatically makes for good pub atmosphere in Boston! I would certainly go back here again!
- Pros: Atmosphere, location, and food
- Cons: The draft by the door
Not crowded.

The best thing about this place hands down is that is never very crowded. So, if you want to find a seat with a group of friends on a Friday night, this is your best bet.
- Pros: Not very crowded.
- Cons: Not very crowded.
Secluded Beacon Street pub exudes laid-back atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a quiet pint with friends.

The Scene
Hidden away on a quiet stretch of Beacon Street, just off Beacon Hill, this Irish bar and restaurant exists just off the periphery of the city's social scene. In other words, you'll rarely have to fight for a seat at the bar or in the front and back seating areas. Emmet's does its best business during happy hour, when government workers (the State House is steps away) stop in with colleagues for a pint.
The Draw
Due to its relative obscurity, this is a good place to come with friends and have a chat over some drinks and respectable bar food. The bar serves up a reasonable number of beers on tap, as well as an above-average selection of wines. The kitchen, which stays open until 10pm, turns out sturdy bar staples like burgers and fish and chips.
Don't go here

I had the complete opposite experience from the person who wrote the above review. I thought the service was awful and the food was not much better. Overall, Emmet's left a lot to be desired. There are too many options in the area to waste your time going to this place.
Secret Hideaway

Off the beaten path, Emmet's is a great place to enjoy a pint and a game on a cold winter evening. I'll definitely be back!
New Friends

My sister and I visited Boston this past week and stayed at the Omni Parker House. Naturally, we walked up the street to Emmet's. We loved it! The people were so friendly and we had a really nice time. Hopefully, we will visit Boston again soon. We will definitely be stopping into say hello to our new friends at Emmet's (Sam, Derrick/Roger, Allen and Bill).
