Great food....bad service
by Margie39
I go to Thorntons all the time because I can't get enough of the food, everything with the exception of the salads are phenomenal. The wings, chicken sandwiches, burgers, and dinners are amazing. Not to mention they have killer fries. However, I go there for the food, and the food only. The service is rough... it is complete chaos when its busy, because i truly believe they have no organization what so ever. It takes forever to pay the bill and get any sort of alcoholic drink. Also, the servers are a bunch of hippie students who get distracted very easily and spend there time talking to other servers even though you may have just asked for something. I work in the industry and I'm not saying you shouldn't have fun at work but this place takes it a little to far. But the food is awesome!! and pretty cheap!!
Best Hangover Cure!!
by RighteousBabe1
This is my number one breakfast spot in Boston. (second to the Grecian diner in allston which is currently burned down). Although Thorntons HAS let me down before in terms of service---- I was also given free meals (and mamosas!!) the two times it happened. I LOVE THORNTONS!!!!! I love the cinnamon french-bread-french-toast! Best thing ever on a Saturday morning (...late morning) with friends sitting outside! Go!
Not too Good, Not too bad

The food is alright. It was something really good that I have to return again. I guess it's a good hang out place for students near the Fenway area to grab a bottle of beer. But if you're here for excellent food qualities I'm afraid you'll be a bit disappointed. The prices could be cheap to expensive depending on what you're getting. I ordered bbq chicken. I liked the fact that it comes with salad, cole slaw, very good fries, and a huge chicken. Seriously, it was a chicken, not a small piece of chicken but with wings and thighs...only the head wasn't there. And it was all for $10.95. Pretty good deal for all this good stuff.
overrated, loud bartender
by stevechan1
don't know if the other reviewers have low standard or not, this place is really subpar. a bunch of friends and I are trying to enjoy a quiet saturday night at the place. Some of us ordered steaks and they were totally overcooked (we asked for medium or rare). The vegetable I ordered has sand in it and the fries are cold and soggy. It took forever for the drinks to come and the bartender seems to be drunk or something, keep on shouting the scores on the TV screen...Won't go there again...
- Pros: easy sport after a baseball game
- Cons: food
The Fenway's most casual neighborhood bar and grill.

The Scene
Weather-permitting, many diners opt to eat outside rather than in the unremarkable dining room. The small bar serves up countless mixed and blender drinks. Laid-back waiters help guests choose from the vast menu. An affordable place to get a decent meal, it can get packed on Red Sox game days.
The Food
You name it, Thornton's serves it. Whether you're looking for just a snack or a dinner plate big enough to share, you won't be disappointed. Fabulous, lightly fried zucchini is just one highlight on one of Boston's largest appetizer menus. Burgers and chicken sandwiches come in endless varieties; lighter fare includes veggie pockets and a gigantic fruit plate served with cottage cheese. Full meals (chicken, fish, steak and pasta dishes) come with fresh house salads. Blender concoctions of fruit and ice cream are available for the few that can manage dessert.
Friendliest in the Fenway

The food at Thorntons is unbeatable, but anyone who's eaten there knows that. The real surprise of this Fenway gem is the service. Our waitress was engaging, knowledgable, and seemed to honestly care about whether we were having a good time. She made an already delicious meal into a fun experience. I'd recommend Thorntons to anyone who wants a good time with their food, pre- or post-game!
Yummy for my tummy

I agree with the other reviews - the brunch is great. Very diverse customer crowd, service is super friendly and prompt, and every single thing I've ever ordered off the menu is FANTASTIC. You can come with groups or with a couple, it's never let me down.
- Pros: Food, Flavor, Waitstaff
- Cons: No Parking, Fattening b/c tasty, Unassuming decor
Amazing weekend brunch!
by photogirl505
The first time I went into Thornton's was for some late-night food with friends.
The appetizers were like any other greasy bar food, but just fair.
The second time I went back was for Sunday brunch, and boy was that a treat! A bit unexpected, I'll admit, but their breakfasts were perfect! I got their egg scramble with broccoli, cheddar and tomatoes, served with homefries, toast and jelly; that, along with a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice and I was in heaven! The eggs were steaming hot, the brocolli was cooked to perfection, and there was so much food you could eat then, and not be hungry until dinner time.
I go to Thorntons alot now and their brunches are always consistently wonderful, the service is excellent and each time I've tried something new it's been great. My latest recommendation: the Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream- fantastic!
- Pros: Weekend Brunch!
- Cons: Greasy late-night foo

Low Key with GREAT FOOD
by jdresow
Everytime I've been here the service has been great, and the food even better! The milkshakes are amazing and the breakfasts are by far the best i've had in Boston. The atmosphere is fun and friendly, definently not too trendy.
- Pros: Breakfast, Milkshakes, Salads
