Disgusting Food

by nikkijg at Citysearch

Overpriced microwave dogfood. With so many great restaurants in the area, why on earth would you go here? This is also literally the worst club in Harvard.

After-work drinks

by cambridgemike424 at Citysearch

Good spot for after-work drinks or a solid bite to eat. I've been many times late at night, which is fun, but it's a little known fact that redline is actually really fun on the earlier side. I love the duck lollipops and and Asian burrito - they also have a great cocktail list (Buddah's Zen is my new go-to).

  • Pros: Food, location, drinks
  • Cons: A little loud at night

Best Stop on the Red Line

by elascaze at Citysearch

Stopped in at the suggestion of a friend and was NOT disappointed. The truffle mac&cheese is to die for and they have an incredible lineup of DJs. The bar was hopping too. Staff and wait service was excellent. Very accesible through pub. transportation and street parking is avail. Check it out.

Hit-or-miss for me as a nightclub

by jenheidir at Citysearch

Redline is my favorite place for dancing in Harvard Square, but sometimes there is not enough balance in the DJ?s music selection. I find it hard to want to stay on the dance floor after a half hour of house music. On the nights they do have a good mix of techno, international and popular tunes, the place in my opinion is fantastic. There?s adequate seating when it?s time to give the feet a break, and the drink prices won?t wear out the wallet either.

so ovahhh

by labomba at Citysearch

i used to really like this place but it is sooooooo done now.

(1) it smells reminscent of old basement/sewage

(2) went on a friday night and the dj was atrocious. not only was the music bad but he had NO skills - i.e. huge scratching noise and then silence in between songs. and he has a nasty attitude problem too.

(3) bouncers have attitude problems too. hello- its harvard square people!

one good thing- the bartenders are all really nice but even they cannot save this place. it has deteriorated beyond the point of salvation. heed my advice- do not go there.

  • Pros: good location
  • Cons: bad atmosphere and bad bad dj

Style meets substance at this Harvard Square restaurant and bar.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Black-clad waiters and bartenders scurry about the handsomely decorated (dark wood tables, leather banquettes, warm lighting) dining room. Tables out front offer a limited view of busy JFK Street. Expect a straightforward menu of upscale bar snacks and standard entrees. Appetizers are good and large enough to share; bruschetta includes an endless pile of fresh tomatoes, while the marinated beef salad features lime- and ginger-soaked steak over cold lo mein noodles and roasted peppers.

Usually a good time

by dagoogs at Citysearch

I've worked in the square and lived in Cambridge for a few years now, and I can tell you that Redline is a good place to grab a drink and chat with the friendly barstaff. I'm on a first name basis with virtually every bartender there, they are not overbearing, very nice and genuine. The place looks good, darkly lit with a couple plasmas and a decent dance floor. The food is surprisingly good and well presented. I'd go any night except Thursday, not my crowd, and too loud. Rarely disappointed here.

  • Pros: staff, lighting, windows
  • Cons: Thursday night, a little pretentious

BEST Hamburger

by sharonking at Citysearch

I went to Redlines planning to meet a group of people who didn't show. After a substantial wait, I decided to order the hamburger, fries, etc. plate. I must say that this restaurant not only is attentive to how you request that your meat be cooked, but also, they know how to do it!! As for the fries, best in town!

  • Pros: food quality, service, short wait
  • Cons: no parking

Classy Bar in the Square

by totaro at Citysearch

With tasteful lighting and decor consisting of black leather booths, a stone and glass bar, and a back room for larger groups, Redline is one of the few bars in Boston, which might have a chance of making it in New York. There's music from Wednesday-Saturday - underground house on Wednesday nights, top 40 the rest of the week.

Great atmosphere, very nice staff and fun people make this an awesome place to hang out. I went there last Saturday and the food was awesome- lots of cool people there too. I heard there is going to be a sweet NYE 2K3 party there.
