My car is new again!

I cannot say enough good things about this shop. Friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. After an unfortunately accident, my car looks brand new. Thanks to Lee, Freddy and the rest at A-Z!

Excellent Service

My car, a 1997 Toyota Camry, was "repaired" over the Fourth of July weekend at a local repair shop. The "Check Engine" light was on. A-Z was closed and I had to drive the car over the weekend. The repairs at the local repair shop cost me $2088. Also the mechanic told me I had to return after he returned from vacation because there was a leak in my transmission and would either have to get a new transmission, have it rebuilt, or have it sealed. I opted for the cheapest and said I would return when he got back from vacation..

I was a little concerned that I had been taken advantage of, so on the Monday following the weekend I went to see Lee at A-Z. He told me my car "repair" was the worst case of fraud he had ever seen. In fact, of the $2088, he said about $100 worth of work had been done on the car. He said the car needed only about $300 worth of work, that the transmission was not leaking and did not need any repair.

He suggested I call my credit card to cancel the first charge and agreed to take photographs of the car that would indicate the original "repairs" had not been done. I did that and before the original mechanic was notified, he returned from his vacation and telephoned me to tell me I should bring my car in for the transmission repair, because he had told me it would only run for about three more weeks and we were coming up on that. I then told him I was disputing the charges.

To make a long story short, after an exchange of letters and photographs with my credit card company, with Lee's help at every step, my card was not charged. I thought that was the end of it, but after the credit card company settled the matter, the mechanic from the first repair shop telephoned me and told me I should "do the right thing" and pay him for the work he did and the parts he purchased. He said he had the receipts for the parts he installed. I asked him to send them to me. When he did, I took them to Lee, who reviewed them and suggested one had been doctored. He suggested I contact the wholesaler where the parts had been purchased, Atlantic Toyota, to see if I could verify the receipts. I did contact Atlantic and they immediately verified that the receipt indicating a part that the first mechanic said cost about $350 was forged or altered. They confirmed that the part had never been purchased from them by my original "repair" shop. In fact, they said the part "retailed" at $108. They were as helpful as A-Z in that they expressed their disappointment in the fact that shops like the one I went to originally gave the whole industry a bad name and they indicated they would not do business with the first repair shop in the future.

I don't know why a person who had lost his case with the credit card company would pursue the matter with a forged receipt, but without Lee's knowledge and cooperation, I would never have even thought to question the involces. So I guess I'll continue to have by car fixed at A-Z and buy the next one at Atlantic Toyota!!!! and if you go to any other shop to have your car fixed, make sure you ask to see the invoice for the cost of the parts -- and then check it with the parts supplier!!!!!

They were very accommodating, helping to negotiate with my insurance company and trying to meet a deadline so I could have my car back in time for the weekend.

Rare integrity

I brought my car to A-Z Auto Center for the first time after a collision in which my rear bumper was damaged. They dealt directly with the insurance company for me and did a great job with the repair and the finish work. The car looks like new.

What most impressed me though was my experience there after the car was repaired. My car was at the garage for a little over a week, and when I went to pick it up, I noticed some minor dents and scratches on the passenger side door, which I was fairly certain had not been there before. Lee looked at the door with me and was equally certain that the dents and scratches did not happen in his care. It is standard procedure that A-Z would have taken photos of the car when it was first brought in, but in this case, the photos were undated. So we amicably agreed that Lee would contact my insurance inspector and ask for his photos of my car after the accident. But as it turned out, the inspector didn't get any pictures of the passenger side door. So there was just no way to prove either case. And, in fact, Lee could have lied to me and told me there were photos showing the damage -- I would have had to take his word for it. But instead, Lee voluntarily took the car back and repaired the scratches and dents at his own expense -- and then even buffed out a few other scrapes he saw and washed the car for me before I returned to pick it up. That kind of courtesy, honesty and personal responsibility is so rare. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Maybe I'll try elsewhere next time

I needed serious body work on my car to the tune of $3300 or so. A-Z was walking distance and had great reviews, so I brought my car here while I was on vacation. They did a good job handling all the insurance paperwork and additional negotiations needed for extra repair costs needed, and the work they did was up to par with what I expected the finished work to look like.

But I'm dinging 2 stars because... They told me it would be done in 2 weeks, for sure, right when I got back in town. 2 weeks later, I called and was told it would be ready in 2 more days. 2 more days later, nobody called me to tell me they needed 2 more days. 2 days later, I call them and they told me it should be ready the following Monday. The following Monday I called and they told me it would be ready tomorrow, which finally, it was ready, 8 days later than I expected (which isn't terrible I suppose).

However - I really hate being jerked around like that over and over. I really let down some people in my life when I had to cancel on them repeatedly as a result believing my car would be ready when Lee said it would be ready. Granted, it may have been out of A-Z's control as to when parts were to be delivered, but the least they could have done is to be proactive and contacted me so that I could have stopped believing my car would be ready when it wasn't.

Very Professional

These guys are who you go to if you want things done right. After fixing my door and front fender there was a problem with my window. I took it back and they fixed it without any hassle. They were easy to deal with and worked with my insurance company to ease the burden on me. Great Job!

another good experience with an oil change

got my oil changed. cost about $36.40 for regular oil on an old honda. not sure how good or bad that is price wise but in terms of service they seem to go that extra step. they looked at a lot of things such as my hood latch, my squeaky doors, my a/c fan and he said something that i liked, "we didn't want to just fix everything and then stick you with a big bill. we'll get the pricing and then you decide." so they are very guarded when it comes to customer's wallets!

even the receptionist (i think it's hanaa) was very professional and seemed to be familiar with some of technicalities of the job. this helped her schedule me in as my car had some peculiarities which she sniffed out.

Amazing service. They handled the insurance company for me, and were responsive even though the job was difficult (it's an old car, and the first parts they ordered were damaged and the color was tough to match - but they did). They also returned the car washed, detailed, and polished. Very nice people too, great to deal with.

Great People, Highly Recommend

I am a 17 year old, new car driver. I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima and i brought my car to A-Z Auto Repair to have my new Halo Headlights installed. The people in the office were awesome, real kind and professional. When i called the place the mechanic that i talked to on the phone knew exactly what i was talking about and gave me an estimate on the phone. When i arrived at the place he took a look at my headlights and said that they can be installed. I went back the next day and had them installed. I paid the same price he had estimated to me on the phone. Everyone at A-Z auto repair was incredible, and a great help! I would highly recommend them to anybody. Now since im being honest here the left headlight did have a small slight scratch that wasn't there when i purchased them. This scratch is barely noticeable but since I'm being honest i thought i should include this. Anyways other than that they did a Great job and that scratch doesn't even bother me. like i said barely noticeable! OVERALL these people were AWESOME, FRIENDLY, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!
