Reviews & Ratings for Rod-Dee Thai Cuisine Ii Fenway

What users are saying:
Popular, pocket-sized outpost serves affordable Thai cuisine to cramped but thankful Fenway denizens.

The Scene
Unlike its original Brookline location, Rod Dee 2 provides patrons with plenty of seating, both inside and outside on a sunny sidewalk patio. This is self-service all the way; customers browse dozens of colorful photographs depicting Thai dishes that haphazardly line the walls before ordering at the counter. Service is snappy, but it's an adequate trade-off for the food arriving hot and as ordered.
The Food
Rod Dee serves classic, albeit slightly Americanized, Thai dishes based on curry, noodles or rice and laden with fresh vegetables. The chicken satay appetizer sits in a just-sweet-enough peanut sauce. Pad Thai is a huge portion of tofu, egg and peanut-laced noodles, neither too soggy nor too spicy. The menu is not short on spicy offerings-the drunken chicken is soaked in a chili sauce that will light anyone's eyebrows on fire. However, the staff happily adjusts spice levels to each diner's liking.
Horrible Customer Service

Places a delivery order with them. Received 2 phone calls from the delivery man asking for directions. Then 20min later received a phone call from the restaurant stating that they couldn't deliver my food and that they were sorry. I work in a restaurant and I have never heard of a place of business doing this to a customer.
Satisfy your Thai Food craving!

Rod-Dee has great food and great service. What's a plus is that it's alot of food for your money (and cheap) and they serve the food very quickly, even when busy. The usual Thai dishes are very good, but try their daily specials, too, which includes duck, squid, and other specialties. Go alone or take a group to lunch on a nice, sunny day and sit outside on the picnic tables. Hey, Johnny Damon frequents the place, too! The counter staff says that it's one of his favorite Thai food restaurants in Boston and his autographed photo on their wall says it all.
Delicious and Inexpensive

Rod Dee II is definitely my first choice for Thai food in Boston. I have lived in the Fenway area for three years, in Boston for five years, and tried a variety of different Thai restaurants. Rod Dee II continues to come out on top, they have a wide selection of entrees, all of which are reasonably priced, and most of which are astonishgly delicious. I would recommend the Crispy Chicken on Pad Thai, it is a personal favorite. In fact, I have some left overs next to my lap top from last night.
- Pros: Great food, Inexpensive
- Cons: , Lack of atmosphere
