3 times a Charm !!!

by hangtime

Top Quality, 3rd time there and always good.

Steak mouth watering and the waiter picked a good wine for us.

Good price and good service. This could be Boston's #1 steakhouse.

  • Pros: Food and staff are professional
  • Cons: Parking and wait

Great value!

by TheReviewa

For a nice meal in a nice restaurant, this is the place. Compared to it's steak house rivals, Flemming's offers a great value and some very nice dishes. Don't expect the quality that you will find at Davios or Grill 23, but the food is pretty darn good and the ambiance is quite nice too.

  • Pros: Value
  • Cons: Not quite in the major leagues, but pretty darn good...

Prime beef, a comfortable atmosphere and an extensive, user-friendly wine list are the signatures of this upscale steakhouse.

by Contributor

In Short
With a decor of dark wood, leather upholstery and soft lighting, this clubby steakhouse has a warm, upscale feel. The menu's focus is prime beef (aged up to four weeks), from bone-in rib eye and filet mignon to New York strip drizzled with bearnaise sauce. Classic seafood offerings include lobster tails, steamed crab legs and wild Alaskan salmon; sides, served a la carte, include baked potato and chipotle mac and cheese.

beautiful and romantic

by smarieroy

My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary. We got there about half an hour early, our table was already ready for us but we went to the bar for a few drinks. The bartenders we very friendly, attentive and easy to have a conversation with, YUMMY DRINKS! The inside decor was beautiful, very cozy! We got to our table and our server (Danielle) helped us choose a great bottle of wine (from the amazing wine list). Danielle was very knowledgable about the menu and wine list. Durring dinner the managers, and chef came over to make sure everything was perfect... and it was! This was possiably the best dining experiance we have ever had! Our next trip to boston will definetly include Flemmings.

Don't Go Even If It's Free

by Eamonn84

I took a friend to Fleming's Steakhouse in Boston and it was the worst meal that I have ever had. I realize that I had seafood in a steakhouse, however the shrimp were as hard as rubber bullets. The scampi sauce was too salty. I would recommend that you select another restaurant because I spent almost $200 on the worst meal of my life.

  • Pros: The valet parking is convenient, the wait staff were very good.
  • Cons: The food was awful, definitely a waste of money.

very attentive

The steak was top notch and the server was very attentive. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise, extensive and reasonable. I will be back quite often. Thanks!

Average at best

by chuckmac

We were early for our reservation. The staff set us up and seated us within 20 minutes almost 20 minutes before our reservation. Nice job.

The waiter was great, gave us plenty of attenion, The service was excellent. Thats where it ends.

The room is very dark, maybe great for dates but not for a party of 6 guys. It was difficult to read the menu due to the lack of light.

The meal

Started with Wicked Cajun Shrimp. Nothing special here. A hint of heat and spice but basically warm shrimp

Next the Cesar salad

the lettuce was crisp but the flavors were not robust. It was good, not great but good.

The 20 ounce bone in New York strip

I ordered rare , the waiter double checked and explained rare to me. I confirmed the order of rare. I liked the fact the waiter checked.

The steak came out as ordered. it was cooked excellent. Its too bad the meat had no flavor at all.

For 44 dollars it should have been mouth watering, it wasn't!

With the steak I ordered a baked potato, it was huge and opened in a zig zag pattern accompanied with a plate of bacon bits, sour cream, butter and cheddar cheese. It is sad to say this was the high point of the meal.

The meal was so average I decided to skip dessert but did have a double shot espresso. The espresso was done well and had the most flavor of the evening. The done side was it was served in a 12 ounce coffee cup. No where does it look good to serve something half full.

I read the other reviews here and was wondering if we ate in the same restaurant. After I spend 150.00 plus tip and parking and to only recieve an average meal ? I could have had a similar meal at outback for 40.00.

Sorry I would not suggest this restaurant and would not return. When dining out the meal should be better then what I could prepare at home, this was not.

I want to repeat the wait staff and hostess staff were excellent. Due to the average food I can only say 1 star

  • Pros: Service excellent
  • Cons: Average overpriced food, dark room , no where to put the menu while having appetizers

great service

by collins138

I found the bar very friendly, the bartender Ricky was extremely welcoming, very personable and offered the best selection from the menu. King Crab leg unbelivible. 2nd , salad great wedge, lots of blue cheese and crispy white green and lots of toppings. The main meal a 16 oz on the bone steak. Incredible cooked to perfection. The greatest satisfation the desert, a hot lava of choc.with home made whipcream the best desert I have ever had. The service was beyond the best Ricky made us feel like were were at home introducing us to each and every sever. When enjoing dinner, look for Ricky at the bar, very experienced and intuned to what you need to order. A great night.

Lackluster service

by mcourt83

This was our first visit to Fleming's. The weekend before, we tried to make reservations at 6 other Boston steakhouses (Grill 23, Abe and Louie's, etc.), but came up empty handed--a big weekend for graduations, apparently. We were, however, able to get an 8:45 reservation at Fleming's. (Hmmm ... red flag, anyone?)

The food was mostly fine. The shrimp cocktail featured four good-sized jumbo shrimp and a creative cocktail sauce. Our steaks (both petite filets) were cooked as we ordered them. The sides (asparagus and shoestring potatoes) were also good.

Unfortunately, when dining at an upscale restaurant, I expect more of the service. We were greeted by an uncoordinated service team who asked twice whether we preferred tap or bottled water, but delivered neither for some time. When I asked our server to recite the (relatively brief) beer list, she failed to mention the one beer that I had ordered from the bar while we waited. Not a huge deal, I know, but I asked about the beers because I wanted to order something different; she didn't bother to share the complete list. After we placed our food order, we were largely ignored for extended periods of time. After our meals were served, too much time passed before she asked if our beef was cooked properly. (It was, of course, but she didn't know that.) Once we finished eating, we stared at a table full of dirty appetizer and entree plates for at least 20 minutes.

We mentioned to the manager that our service was subpar. He offered us complimentary dessert. We accepted. This exposed our first food criticism of the night: my chocolate mousse cake was still frozen inside. My $10 dessert came directly from the freezer--no doubt from Fleming's Corporate. It is a chain, after all.

Bottom line: The food was fine. But there are many MANY places in Boston with better food. At these prices, I expect great food and great service. Fleming's missed the mark.

  • Pros: Steaks cooked as ordered, good size orders
  • Cons: Service, dessert

Worth every penny!

by tylersloan

Fleming's is expensive but the food is delicious. I had the filet and it was perfectly cooked. The cheesecake was divine and very large. Our waiter was friendly and good at making recommendations. The place was packed the night we were there so it was loud. I don't think I would recommend going there on a first date. The only downside is that the tables are small and all the sides are a la carte; so there is no room if you are in a party of four.

  • Pros: Great service, good location
  • Cons: not good for a first date (on a busy weekend)
