There is only one word to describe Kyle and his styling: FABULOUS! I went to him to donate my hair to Locks of Love. It is a very delicate process, because it means a drastic haircut. But the reviews on CitySearch lived up to their expectations and he really did a wonderful job. He is meticulous and cut my short do to my curls. I haven’t worn my hair curly in years, but I’m happy to say that I’m glad to see them again. Thank you Kyle. I’ll be seeing you again soon.

This place was such a nightmare! to start with don't believe there reviews!!!!!! They pushed me into buying products that i really didnt need and i bought them anyway because i felt bad. i asked for a side bangs and betty gave me short uneven bangs right across my forhead. I am absolutely embarrased to leave my house. I got a partial foil, the color was fine except for the fact that on my part there are bleach marks everywhere. i was better off going to supercuts. very dissapointed.

I tried out DeKwa recently for the first time after reading so many incredible reviews. Once I got to the salon I was a little disappointed to see that they bribe customers to post reviews with the promise of a free hair product. So I felt a bit that I had been duped. Just putting that out there. That said, I DID enjoy my experience. Ingrid was fantastic, and I had a really good time talking with her. She cut my hair exactly like I wanted, which has been rare in my experience (usually I find that stylists tend to listen to you and say ok to your request, and then take your cut in a wholeeee different direction). She offered styling tips to suit my lifestyle (i.e. I am a "dry it and go" kind of girl, so she offered tips accordingly and didn't waste either of our time explaining some 35-minute hair care routine that I never would have followed), which I appreciated. If you are a first time customer, go to their website and sign up for their eCuts emails. They will email you in the morning with open appointments for the day, and if you sign up for one, you get 20% off. So if you can be flexible, this is a great savings. Unfortunately, the offer is good for first timers only, and I could never justify paying full price for one of their haircuts. My cut was $56 with the eCuts savings, which is totally do-able. Without that 20%, though, I would have to pay $70; to me, that's a little ridiculous. So in short, I really liked DeKwa, but I won't be back. $70 is a bit beyond my limit. If you are willing to pay $70 for a haircut, though, you should go for it. I have tried other stylists/salons on Newbury, and I definitely liked this one (and Ingrid) the best.
Pros: Ingrid was great; generally friendly staff; laid-back atmosphere (not arrogant like some other Newbury places)
Cons: cost; the space is a bit small

This is my third time at the salon and every experience has been great. I got the Yoko hair straightening treatment and is the best thing I've ever done. My hair is naturally wavy so I always had to dry my hair and use the straightening iron for it to be perfect. After the Yoko treatment I just wash my hair and go, don't need to dry it or anything and it always looks like I got out of the salon. It is definitely worth it.

I donated my hair to Locks of Love a while ago - and have been meaning to write a review. Kyle did an amazing job and I love my haircut. I got many comments and will certainly go back to him. Highly recommended.

After reading some reviews, I decided to come here to get a perm. For the most part, I liked it. The space is very modern but a little small. I really liked it and it definitely didn't come out too curly, but it didn't last very long. After a couple of weeks, my hair seems pretty flat again. It didn't damage my hair too much, but I'm not sure if I would do it again as it did not seem like it would be worth the money.

Ingrid recently cut my hair for locks of love and I had a fabulous experience. For almost 8 years I had very long hair so to cut it short was definitely a nerve-wracking experience. Ingrid was very comforting before and after the cut. Her staff was also very comforting, coming over to me during the cut and assuring me of how good it looked. I also told Ingrid how hair unsavvy I was and she was more than happy to teach me exactly how to do my hair and give me all sorts of great styling tips. Overall I was extremely satisfied. Coming from a very upscale salon in the past I was somewhat nervous to put my hair in someone else's hands. Dekwa exceeded my expectations and I am sure to return there in the future for any and all hair needs. Thank you Ingrid for doing such an amazing job!

I received a GREAT hair cut - so cute and so stylish! Deneen is an amazing sylist - very talented. If you are looking for a change or a maintenance cut I give high recommendations to Deneen !! The salon is great too. It has a neat atmosphere with a modern decor and comfortable surroundings. The people are all so nice and treat you with respect. I'd Highly recommend Dekwa!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to donate my hair for Locks of Love. Upon moving to Boston this summer, I had yet to find a stylist in the area. I found Dekwa on the internet because of the free and inexpesive haircuts they provide for donators. I was able to schedule an appointment within a week because of a cancellation and was very pleased with my stylist Kyle. He was the first stylist I had ever had who embraced my curly hair and brought out all the natural curl, like I had never seen before. It was hassle free, because they send the hair away for you as well. I would highly suggest Kyle at Dekwa for anyone with curly hair. He was friendly and knowledgable on curly hair, which is hard to find! He had styling tips for me to maintain my hair upon leaving the salon as well. My one complaint is he offered to email me the tips he verbally told me, so I wouldn't forget anything, but has yet to follow through on that. But this was an additional service, that I would never expect from a stylist. So I still highly recommend Kyle. Dekwa also has a great product for curlty hair that Kyle was able to recommend too.

I recently had my hair cut for Locks of Love at the DeKwa Salon. Kyle was excellent! My hair looks fantastic, and I've had nothing but compliments. Kyle is personable, and full of wit and humor. I enjoyed the atmosphere as much as the results. The salon is gorgeous, everyone was upbeat and relaxed. The shampoo girl (sorry I didn't catch her name) was amazing as well! I also have to give DeKwa and Kyle especially since he does ALL the LOL cuts kudos for participating in such a great program. If you are considering making the leap, just do it and call DeKwa and make an appointment with Kyle...you won't be sorry.
Pros: The atmosphere is great!
Cons: Kyle is so popular you might have to wait for an appointment!
