Multiplex and megaplex theater chain shows mainstream movies in a plush setting.

In Short
In 1920, Edward Durwood opened a single-screen picture house in Kansas City, Mo. Over the next 40 years, his company went on to pioneer the use of four- and six-screen theaters. In 1969, the company incorporated as American Multi-Cinema Inc. in honor of its signature multiplexes. Now, the company is known for theaters with 14 or more screens, as well as innovations such as armrests with built-in cup holders, stadium seating with LoveSeats, ATM-style ticketing and online ticket purchasing.
Formerly great, now rubbish

I have been watching movies at AMC (formerly Loews) Boston Common since its opening. In the past it was great, but has seen a steep decline over the past two years. The floors of the common areas are always filthy, the seats in the theaters are sticky and gross. I can't watch a movie without being disturbed by unruly teens who talk on their cell phones during the film.
- Pros: Great movie selection, ample concessions
- Cons: Dirty
Best in Boston
by acbazuka
Great theater, but it is almost always jam packed on weekend evenings. You have to get tickets for the popular showings a couple hours beforehand. At least there are things to do in the area while you wait.
- Pros: Great visual/audio, Lots of movie choices
- Cons: $10 parking, VERY crowded weekends
Wow

I needn't go on about the Boston Common theatre. The facility speaks for itself. As simply the best movie theatre I have ever been to, a trip there comes with the highest of guarantees.
- Pros: Variety of Films, Right off T, Great Atmosphere
- Cons: Expensive
Are you sure this is a theatre?

Finaly, Boston has a movie theatre that lives up to the rest of the world. The place is huge and features stadium seating with VERY comfy seats. I'm slowly getting used to the outrageous prices but its the same everywhere so I won't hold it against them. Try smuggling in your own food. I can't wait to go again.
- Pros: Comfy seats, Good sound
- Cons: Expensive
THEY HAVE A BAR
by jpur0328
Not a place for Families but for the college crowd it can't be beat. They have a bar inside lus it is close to all the great Boston hot spots.

The prices are high, but the theatre is great. Most of the first-runs, stadium seating and everything - great place to take small town tourists. The concession selection was over the top - burgers, fried chicken, etc?
- Pros: Clean, Impressive, Good Location
- Cons: Expensive, Busy on Weekends
I WAS AT THIS THEATER ON 12/7/02

WHAT A THEATER!
I WAS AT THE LOEWS THEATER LOCATED AT THE BOSTON COMMOMS TODAY. I SEEN DIE ANOTHER DAY!
THE SOUND EFFECT WAS INCREDIBLE. MY HEART WAS BEATING FROM THE SOUNDS EFFECTS. MY EYES FIXED AND NEVER LEFT THE SCREEN!
MY ONLY COMPLAINT: THE CHAIRS NEED TO BE MORE COMFORTABLE. RECLINING CHAIRS IS WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST.
I WOULD DIFINITELY TRAVEL 50 MILES JUST TO WATCH A MOVIE AT THIS THEATER!

City Theathers

Having been brought up in the country, it's nice to see how much a city theather can be. This place is very nice and provides a nice park in fron of it for a romantic walk afterwards.
- Pros: very nice
- Cons: parking!
