Tia's is known so well as a bar that the great food is often overlooked. We heard that it is a great scene on sunny afternoons, and that's why we went. We were having such a great time that we decided to stay for dinner and had some of the best seafood we've eaten anywhere. This is REALLY a great place to hang out on the waterfront on a warm day or evening, and a great place for a casual lunch or dinner.
Pros: Great scene, great food, great service
Cons: Indoor portion of the bar can get crowded

I cant wait for tia's to open back up. When Tia's opens up thats a sure sign that spring is here. I go there almost every thursday or friday afternoon for a few drinks and food. The place is usually busy when the weather is nice, its always a good crowd too. Try to get thier somewhat early on nicer days. If you're going to have food you have to try the calamari! Should only be another week or so before spring is here, aka Tia's opens up.
Pros: patio, crowd, food, service, atmosphere
Cons: gets crowded early

Everytime I go to Tia's I've had a good time. Whether it has been just for drinks after work or spending a friday night there, I've never had a bad experience. Sitting outside on the deck after work is the perfect way to relax after a long day. The food is good and the staff is friendly. One of my favorite bars in Boston.
Pros: outside dining
Cons: none

We were only in Boston for a day & we were really looking to find a great meal while we were there. Boy was this the wrong place! 1. The service was HORRIBLE!! Our waitress was not personable at all, we only saw her to put in the order, drop off our food and pay the bill - we weren't even offered drink refills. When we had a problem it took us quite a while to hunt her down, and she handled it very badly. 2. My daughter got a kids meal (she's 5), her burger was burnt and she wouldn't eat it. Any of you who have kids know that once the food is ranked as bad by a child there's no redeeming it. She didn't want anything else at this point & she certainly didn't want another burger. Our waitress seemed to care less that she was leaving the restaurant hungry AND they didn't take it off the bill - she took ONE bite!! Who does that? 3. OVERPRICED - I had lobster roll & clam chowder - while it was pretty good, the portion was TINY and it was very expensive for what I got. 4. DH had lobster (when in Boston, eat lobster). It was poorly prepared (chewy) and when it came out it was cold - when you're paying market price it had better be done right - how hard is it to boil a lobster! I worked in restaurants for a lot of years in the past and my minimum tip is usually 20-22% for average service- I tend to overtip a lot if the service is good - this is the first time I left 8% and regretted it later thinking that was too much for how bad the service was - she could have played a part in fixing our food issues but obviously she couldn't be bothered. How hard is it to get a child a new meal if hers is bad or to take care of a lobster dinner that was obviously cooked too long! $80 for lunch and 2 out of 3 of us left hungry!
Pros: Location was nice
Cons: Service was horrible, food was bad and overpriced

Even though every time I've been to Tia's it's been busy, I still feel like it's an underrated bar in the city. Right on the harbor, Tia's offers good food and a cool place to have a few drinks. It's one of my favorite bars to go to during the summer because you can stay outside the entire time with their outdoor bar. Nothing too flashy here, but has good beer selection.
Pros: Waterfront, Plenty of space outside
Cons: Inside bar is very small

This place is great. My wife and I had some company come to visit and we asked some friends where to take them and Tia's came highly reccomended. We went on a nice afternoon and sat outside on the patio. The food was great, and the service was exceptional. Our server was so nice and was constantly asking if we needed anything. Our company loved it and requested we go back there next time they are in town.

I've been to Tia's a bunch of times. Boston's young professionals wait for this place to open back up in the offseason. The patio is right on the water and always full of fun people. The after work crowd is very friendly because we all just got off our 9 - 5 job and need a drink to relax. The food is great, I've been to a couple events at Tia's that are catered. They always put out a good spread. The seafood here is great as well, nothing like eating seafood and being able to see the ocean.
Pros: Location, food, service, atmosphere
Cons: Parking

This place is a clown show. I saw a bunch of roid freaks start a fight with some kids over a chair (luckily they ended up with the chair, although it was over the side of their head, good for them!) Otherwise, if you enjoy overpriced drinks and the suburban crowd that comes into Boston to get wasted and start fights with people, this is your place.
Pros: its close to the water
Cons: everything else

The food was so bad I couldn't bear to stay for drinks at the bar. The calamari was not only gross, but there was hardly enough for one person even if you did want to eat it. The waitress left no impression and the martinis stunk. The only thing worse than the ridiculous bill was the turkey club. Not only do they not tell you want is on it (warning there is a massive avacado right in the middle) but they put (no exaggeration) 20 times more mayo on it than there should have been. No one at our table left satisfied. I guess if you haven't had seafood you wouldn't know how poor the quality was, but please don't have this be your impression of Boston. Go for drinks, but avoid all food.
Pros: waterfront, outdoor, nice area
Cons: food, service

I was in town (yes, a tourist) and my friends in Boston highly touted Tia's for drinks and dinner. We had the worst service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. The restaurant was dead and we were her only table: I not only had to approach the bartender for water but also our drink order. The food was poorly prepared and cold when it arrived to our table. Just a terrible experience.
Cons: SERVICE
