My husband & I & another couple went here for New Year's Day brunch. I always thought the library room looked beautiful, with a very quaint, old-Boston feel. The atmosphere was very enjoyable; it was so pretty, seated by a window, facing the park, with snow falling. The view & ambience were the only high points. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk was brusque with me--I began to tell her I was unsure of the name given when I made the reservation (I use both my married & maiden names). She barked at me, "What is your NAME?" quite rudely. My friends had arrived 1st & when I told them, they said she was rude to them also. It was cold in the room & despite there being only 4 or 5 other parties, it was 15 minutes before we could order. They kindly agreed to make subsitutions in their Brahmin Brunch (around $30.00/person--includes fruit salad, pecan roll, salmon egg benedict, small tenderloin, potatoes, waffle, mimosa & dessert). They agreed to substitute the benedict for me with scrambled egg, but they STILL gave me the salmon--the part I most objected to. I peeled it off. We never got our pecan rolls & when we asked for them, we were told there was an extra charge--problem was, we never got the INCLUDED pecan rolls--we wen't asking for extra. The food was really cold (except for the pecan roll, which we got near the end of our meal--the only reason IT was warm was because the kitchen had rushed to make ours after they ran out). One of my companions found it to be a bit raw still. The watress was nice enough, but my party had the feeeling she was tring to avoid us after a while--even though we were disappointed, we were perfectly nice & polite to her, even though my friends had to flag her down for coffee refills. For $200 for a party of 4, we were VERY disappointed with everything but the atmosphere. For a supposed elegant brunch spot, the food was cheap hotel/function food, waaaay overpriced for the quality & the service. We will NOT be back.
Pros: Ambience
Cons: Cold food, slow service

This is a gorgeous place to have a delicious, relaxed Sunday Brunch. The live jazz is a really nice touch. They were very accommodating towards all my requests and have their entire menu online. GREAT BLOODY MARYS! I recommend going in the winter, because you won't have trouble getting a reservation and they will have the fireplace lit, but it's really nice all year.
Pros: View, Validated Parking, Food, Location
