The church is built of Venetian stone and terra cotta, with stained glass windows depicting the 12 apostles.
The pastor believes Tremont Temple was the country's first integrated church. It was founded by Timothy Gilbert, a white man, during the Civil War after Gilbert was refused entrance to a church because he was accompanied by a black friend.
It is now a popular venue for gospel groups, such as Anointed, and hosts the Black Nativity at Christmas.
Best bet for parking is the garage at One Beacon Street or Center Plaza.
