Eclectic Tibetan fare has a home in Brookline..
Tashi Delek's brightly colored storefront, Tibetan décor (a portrait of the Dalai Lama, Buddhist symbols) and spacious dining area create a welcoming atmosphere for those familiar with or curious about Tibetan cuisine. The exotic but accessible menu features traditional Tibetan cooking with local ingredients (beef instead of yak, cow's milk dairy) and familiar Chinese and Indian influences. Tibetan dumplings called momos feature minced beef, ricotta and parsley, tofu, or vegetable. The stir-fried noodle dish Shel thuk ngol pa comes with meat and vegetables on a sizzling platter. Mild yellow curries, like Tsel, are reminiscent of Indian curry dishes. Desserts such as dysee, a spiced sweet yogurt dish, are similarly familiar. In all, Tashi Delek offers an approachable out-of-the-ordinary experience.
