Boston >Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream
This high-profile outpost of the popular ice cream chain lures healthy crowds with gourmet confections and health-minded products..
Though the Newbury Street Emack's isn't the popular local chain's original location, it's certainly the busiest. On most summer nights, lines of locals and tourists spill out of the second-floor shop, sometimes reaching the sidewalk. Inside, there's hardly any room for patrons to enjoy ultra-thick frappes and shakes. Friendly, youthful scoopers do their best to keep the lines moving (the ever-changing menu of about 50 flavors presents a problem for indecisive patrons).
A cornerstone of the local ice cream scene for over 20 years, Emack and Bolio's continues to be renowned for its gourmet ice cream and frozen yogurt; its fresh fruit smoothies, micro-brewed sodas and hand-roasted coffees also merit a look. Ice cream aficionados (and environmentalists) applaud Emack's disdain for modified dairy products, while kids approve of offbeat flavors like Caramel Moose Prints (butterscotch ice cream with caramel and chocolate peanut butter cups).
Best Ice Cream Evah!. Absolutely AMAZING ice cream. After trying all of the flavors I must say my favorite by far is the cake batter ice cream. It have fudge pices, browie, and cookie dough all mixed in a tastycreamy cake batter flavored base. DELICIOUS. And what better way to eat it than in an "uber" cone, as my bf calls it = the rice crispy topped waffle cone. And now they have an awesome fruity pebble option too! MMMMMMM. The service was very nice too. Much better than the rivaling town favorite "J.P. Licks" down the street. Great music for the college crowd. Emack's is the place to get ice cream in boston, hands down.
User review by slogslosh. I went in for a smoothie and even though the smoothie was tasty I thought that the value was very poor and hence led to a dissappointing experience. For the price the cup they serve it in is too small. I think that offering different sizes for different prices would be a decent idea with the current cup size being a small and about 2 dollars less.
Incredible Ice Cream!. We were in Boston over the weekend and happened across Emack & Bolio's on Newberry. The grasshopper pie (mint ice cream with mint oreos) ice cream was fantastic, but the best part was their selection of dipped waffle cones. They had the usual chocolate and sprinkle-dipped ones, but they also had chocolate and nuts, chocolate and toffee, and (my personal favorite) rice krispy treat! That's right, they coated the top third of the cone in rice krispy treat. Unbelievably yummy.
The Best!. Take it from this ice cream connoisseur, Emacks is truly outstanding. And their hot fudge is by far the best I have ever tasted.
Emacks is the bomb. Emacks has the best ice cream and great flavors.Their smoothies are UNBELIEVABLE!
