awesome food. Wide range of choices. Like its "create your own entree" option, very personal & cute, and flexible. The portion is large for the price, and they have good music if you don't come close to closing time. I tried "vegeatable curry + rice noodles" and the first tiem for the soup, very impressive.
I'm eating their pad thai as I type!!!!.
Hmmmmmmmmmm!!!! Love their pad thai, oh and the lemongrass soup....out of this world! And don't miss out on the crunchy spring rolls!!!
Prompt friendly service....Yahoo!!!
Pan-Asian eatery provides J.P. residents with yet another inviting, ethnic dining option..
In Short
Wonder Spice Café's menu focuses on Cambodian fare, with several Thai and Vietnamese dishes included as well. Quietly dutiful servers match the tiny, quiet dining room. Many patrons opt for the "make your own" entrée option, selecting from an assortment of meats, sauces, noodles and rice. Saiko Aing Kroeung (wood-grilled beef, marinated with garlic, lemongrass and tamarind) and veggie shumai are typical starters. Cambodian stir-fries and platters of drunken noodles are popular among the entrees.
One of JP's best restaurants. This place is a mix of Thai and Cambodian and is one of the better places to eat in JP. The food is very fresh and flavorful. The service has always been great. The Pad Thai is one of the best that I have had and the mango chicken curry dish is great. It is also very inexpensive.
Fragrant, tasty food. This is one of the best restaurants in JP! It's an uncommon mix of Thai and Cambodian cuisines, and the food is indeed fragrant and tasty, the service is friendly and great, and the kitchen is fast and efficient. Their lunch specials are good, but the range of entrées and appetizers at dinner is well worth the extra couple of dollars.
Cool for summer. Ask for the outdoor seating. Yes, you can see street lights flicker on and off, but the season for sitting out in Boston is so fleeting, it's worth having your fragrant, tasty food in the back.
A taste of heaven. I've been to Wonder Spice Cafe for takeout and dining. And through out that time, I have come to know the owners very well. The service could be better but the food is very good. It has a certain appeal to it. Such as dishes like the Fruits Sizzling, where you have a choice of meat topped off with fruits and vegetables of the season. There are plenty other dishes that are exotic and well worth ordering. And the restaurant is like nothing I've ever seen. It is a museum for the eyes, fully decorated with traditional/authentic Cambodian & Thai artworks. And the place is great for kids or even just a couples night out.
Dried out and flavorless.
After living on Brown Sugar in the Fenway for years my move to JP left me with only the Wonder Spice Cafe within a reasonable distance.
I've gone several times, hoping each time that the dishes had more flavor or that it's Pad Thai wasn't pulled from the top of the pan all dried out and inedible. But I've been dissapointed so many times now, I'm compelled to write this review.
Make the trip to Brown Sugar if you're in JP. You'll enjoy much better Thai food there.
