We have visted the main restaurant at the BVI on six or seven occassions. Most of the time service has been adequate. The last two occassions service was terrible. There was a long wait for food. Server made excuses saying "we're short a chef today". On our last visit after waiting for a lengthy period we finally opened our own champagne. Drinks took forever to arrive. A server, obvioulsy not well trained, sent a pile of plates crashing to the floor during our romantic Christmas dinner. Waiter knew nothing about the wine list. The only thing that arrived quickly was the bill! For a bill of $300, Hardly what one would expect.

The Tap Room at Bedford Village Inn is the more casual venue of the restaurant. You can also order from the regular restaurant menu but the feel in the Tap Room is more relaxed, and their own menu has many wonderful offerings also. They are known for their juicy burgers and Tap Room Sliders but there are wonderful offerings beyond that which very interesting, including new salad offerings. The current chef has also added items that are more innovative than many of the previous Tap Room selections. The warm ambiance coupled with the well prepared lunches and dinners has made the Tap Room a local favorite.
Pros: casual atmosphere with excellent food
Cons: weekend hours should be extended, particularly for lighter offerings and desserts
