My wife and I worked with R and C this
summer to install a pool patio and fire pit (w/ field stone). We are thrilled with the end result!
We looked at 4-5 contractors and in the end decided on R and C. I have a friend that owns a large commercial landscaping company who told me he’d seen and interacted with R and C for years and it was a great choice.
They did an excellent job in designing our layout and making suggestions that today are paying huge dividends. We went into this process with an open mind knowing when we met R and C ran with those ideas and delivered.
After coming to a decision on shapes, designs and locations it was very helpful receiving drawings to give us an understand of how the patio would look with the pool, fence and house prior to signing our contract.
Needless to say, we followed every one of there suggestions and are ecstatic with our new back yard! The landscaping we kind of did on our own to get through the first summer – we were on a limited budget this summer and can’t wait to tackle our landscape design when we open the pool in the spring.
With this being our first summer in our house we made a decision to install a pool kind of last minute. With such a short timeline, I never thought they would be able to complete our project prior to our 4th of July party. We were impressed when they did!!!
Hope this helps you in your search for your own mini paradise!!!
Had our outdoor project installed last year. Great project from inception to installation and completion. Looking forward to enjoying it this season.
We had a great experience with this company, the sales and design process was thorough and very creative. We love our new pool area. The workman were very respectful of our property and produced some great results. Any items that strayed from the original plan were brought to our attention and we were easily able to figure out the best options. We highly recommend.
Outdoor Living Space - Great. Love my project - great execution, quality and design. Thank you!
worst part of the pool building process.
Below review by Robin Collins - please buy me a lottery ticket because you are obviously a very lucky person.
Southshore Dad - I wonder if we have mutual friends because I tell everyone I can what a terrible company NEH is including the pool installer, my landscaper and the 2 concrete companies i had to call because i thought NEH was never going to return to finish my pool deck.
Rich is one of the best sales people ever.
Patient, thorough, knowledgeable and creative.
But the sales process was one of the last times we ever saw Rich. He didnt do any of the work, as we were told he would ("I am an on-site owner").
Understand they are in a profession with a limited window of time during the spring and summer. Also realize everyone wants their pool done first.
But the total lack of customer service, the numerous unanswered phone calls, the bullying & threatening emails from his wife Renne trying to collect on work not performed are inexcusable.
The best way to get a hold of Rich, is when the workers (I am sure properly documented and legal) ask for a check on the day they actually show up to work, is refuse until you can speak to Rich. These workers seem to have magic cell phones, that cause Rich to answer as soon as they call. My cell phone only seems to go into the abyss of his voice mails.
What was promised to be completed in 7-10 days was completed in just over 35. Not a lot of rain, just a lot of excuses and cigarettes smoked by the workers (we counted 1 cigarette for every 20 bricks laid down)
Bottom line, a lot of money for a lot of hassle and stress. We also had to threaten legal action (This was the 2nd and final time we saw Rich) to get the work completed. The concrete that we had stained needs to be re-stained. NEH would be the last call I would ever make.
We are sorry that you did not have a good experience, we always strive for 100% customer satisfaction, but do realize that some projects experience hiccups along the way. Without comments either good or bad we would not be able to improve our process. I do not know who this is, but I welcome your call, I can be reached at my office 800 659-7701
Be careful!.
I had heard from a few people that there were problems getting NEH to finish the job, do so in a timely manner, and be responsive to customer. However, I was impressed by the salesman/owner who seemed pleasant, knowledgeable and committed to be the "dedicated owner" who would always be responsive and make sure things were done right. Their sales process is MUCH better than their competitors. Until you sign the agreement they are very response, pleasant and knowledgeable.
My experience after they started the job has been much different. The work is generally very good. However, getting them to stay on the job and complete is PAINFUL. If you use them, do not accept the payment schedule they put in the agreement. There are other steps they need to do that are not included in the agreement so they end up getting most of the $ before the job is done. Definately consider holding back significant $ until the job is 100% done.
We are sorry that you did not have a very good experience with our company and we appreciate your comments. We work very hard hard at what we do to provide a quality installation. Sometimes things do not always go as planned during the construction process. I welcome a phone call to discuss, I can be reached at 800 659-7701
Stay clear.
A few years ago, we hired New England Hardscapes to install a custom concrete deck surrounding our swimming pool. We chose one of their more expensive products--a stamped deck designed to look like irregular flagstone. In order to create this effect, the concrete was poured and stamped. Then after it cured, workers returned and cut thin irregular lines in the concrete with grinding tools, and these were filled with grout.
The installation was delayed until late in the fall. We were very concerned that the weather would create problems, but the owner assured us that they knew what they were doing. After the work was finished, we were very disappointed with the coloration. This was supposed to look like natural stone, and even though they had used various dyes during the installation, the colors were barely visible. During the next few weeks, NEH returned a few times in an attempt to correct the coloring. They were not successful, but assured us that they would come back in the spring when it was warmer to finish the work.
Come spring, we noticed several cracks had formed in the concrete. We called the company and they assured us that this would not be a problem to repair. They told us that because they had used an irregular pattern, all they needed to do was grind and grout new grout lines, and we would never note that the cracks have appeared.
This is when our troubles really began. Firstly, it was nearly impossible to reach them or get them to return. We would call for days on end before we would finally get a return phone call. Appointments were frequently made and always broken, forcing us to miss time from work and other appointments waiting in vain. When the workers would finally come back to the job, they had no idea what they were supposed to do and were not prepared for the job. When we would tell them what was needed, they would not have the tools or other materials to do the work and would have to make yet another appointment to come back at another time.
When they finally came back prepared to do the work, it was obvious that they were completely inexperienced. Rather than cutting new thin lines, they were very thick and broad and looked very unnatural. In addition, they were not able to match the grout color, so they had to grind it out repeatedly and try over and over to match it, and they never came close. They also unsuccessfully attempted to correct the coloring of the concrete to make it look more like natural stone, rather than monotone concrete.
Each time they would perform a new coloration, they told us that the only way the colors would appear properly is if they were to first seal the concrete. However, when the concrete was sealed, colors did not show up, they then had to use a concrete stripper to remove the sealer before they tried again. After two or three such applications of sealer and stripper, areas of the concrete were permanently damaged and discolored.
We spent our entire summer aggravating over this process with promises and appointments regularly made and broken. And frequently when the workers would come to the house, they would leave the job site before they were finished, telling us they would be back shortly and then never returning.
Finally, when it once again became too cold to do any more work, the owner assured us that he would come back again the following Spring and continue the process until we were satisfied. This never happened. In fact, we were never able to get them back.
Now, just a few years after the installation, the grout is disintegrating.
Save your money.
Very Good Company! We recommend them!.
We hired New England Hardscpes in May 2011. They designed our pool area for us at our new home and they did all of the hardscape work on our property as well. They nailed the design on the first try, we were so impressed; we met with Rich the owner, he listened to us and did not try to sell us things that we did not want.
The plan they developed for us was perfect and most importantly it met our budget.
New England Hardscapes installed some beautiful fieldstone walls, a large fireplace and a beautiful Architectural concrete patio. The patio is a work of art, his team was so talented, our friends have no idea that it is not real stone.
We had another pool built a little over 2 years ago and hired a company from Hudson, MA to do the hardscape, I must say that there is no comparison in the level of service and quality that New England Hardscapes provided to us. New England Hardscapes was responsive the entire way and even came to us during the project and suggested ways that we could save money.
The project was slightly delayed, partly because we did make some changes along the way. I strongly recommend New England Hardscapes, they really delivered for our family.
Great!. My husband and I hired NEH to install our hardscape project. What a wonderful install. The design and the detail work was wonderful. We are so pleased with the finished project. Naturally with all the weather issues it didn't happen immediately but we knew that outdoor construction is dependent on weather and we trusted our contractor. We would recommend them to anyone. Thank you!
