Don't come to Ristorante Damiano expecting your typical large-portioned Italian fare. Chef/owner Damien DiPaola styles his offerings as Italian tapas, with three or four small plates, or piattini, comprising a meal. The modestly sized restaurant is usually packed on weekend nights, with visitors soaking up the ambience while watching the chefs work their magic in the open kitchen. On warmer days, diners can perch by the sliding front windows to catch a breeze and watch the bustle of Hanover Street, North End's main drag. The menu is divided into seafood, meat, vegetarian and salad piattini, and encourages an order-lots-and-share style of dining. You won't find coffee or desserts here (no problem, as there's little shortage of sweets purveyors in immediate proximity), but Damiano does boast a sizable wine list.
