So disappointed!.
Yes place is small - we made a reservation six weeks in advance, and had to wait 40 minutes for a table to become available. It took 20 minutes for someone to offer us a drink while waiting (no it
wasn't on the house). There is no wall between the vestibule and the waiting area, so there was a freezing cold draft coming in... service was inattentive, barely an apology for the wait (which they openly blamed on other customers "lounging around" - while true, pretty disrespectful...). Anyway, we sat through this fiasco hoping for an exquisite food experience (we're both foodies and had been looking forward to this evening for six weeks since we made the reservation). We ordered hot cider which turned out to be from a plastic bottle, steamed in the coffee maker, bland.
Starving and freezing, we finally got to our table. A small wine list with only four reds and three whites by the glass. We get a basket of stale, burnt, inedible bread. One starter was excellent, the other entirely without taste. One entree was excellent, the other entirely without taste. We did not order dessert, coffee or another glass of wine. Overall, we left that night very disappointed with just about everything, and while some of the food explained why friends and reviewers have been raving about this place, the many small nagging flaws and the two completely failed courses we had, just made us feel this place is not ready yet. Or maybe just an off night with temporary staff?…
Maybe the best dining experience in Boston.... First, this place is small, so call for a reservation. That said the atmosphere is fantastic. The big thing though is the food, prepared by Chef Jason Bond is just amazing. Using locally sourced ingredients this guy prepares mind blowing meals. Put this place on the top of your must try list!…
