Mike began cooking for our family shortly after my daughter was born (when making meals was the last thing on my mind) and his nourishing, nutritious, and insanely delicious dinners were a wonderful welcome. My husband has a sugar intolerance, and I have a gluten allergy, but Mike saw it as a good challenge and created some some seriously tasty pasta dishes, chili -- that I dream about when I'm not eating it, hearty salads with an asian flare that make your mouth water, tender fish, moist fall-off-the-bone meat...and the desserts, well, I happily have gained 7 lbs, enough said. It is a very special thing to know Mike, he is as nice as he is talented. He can execute on all the goodies for a xmas party for 100, or make dinner for 3. If we ever win the lottery, I'd make him ours full time!!!
Talented, accomodating and reliable.
I've hired Mike to cook several dinner parties over the last 3 years. Parties have ranged from 8 to 18 guests, usually for special occasions, and sometimes with dietary restrictions (gluten free, special requests).
Mike is always a pleasure to work with. For larger groups, hosting an event at home is far more fun, easier to organize, and even comparable in cost to taking everyone out to restaurant. For one dinner in 2010, I worked with Mike on a 'tasting menu', featuring several courses of small plates. It was fun to work with Mike to build the menu, and when all was done, there was at least one new ingredient for every guest. Mike's experience (and presentation!) encouraged first timers to try new things, and the dinner was a great success. It all ran smoothly and the night was stress free, allowing me more time to spend with guests and less time playing "host". Mike cleans up, and for the larger groups, often uses a server/bartender to keep things running smoothly.
I can't say enough about Mike, his talent, his good humor and his professionalism. I envy those who can enjoy his cooking more often, and always look forward to our next 'Betts' meal.

Mike has been my family's personal chef for 5+ years now. I can't recommend him enough. He cooks four meals a week at my house and then also periodically works dinner parties for us as well.
He is experienced and professionally trained. His menus are as creative and sophisticated as you would like or he can also prepare the most basic but most delicious of comfort foods. He is equally skilled and at ease putting on a formal dinner party for friends as he is preparing a casual family dinner.
He is a pleasure to have in our house. He is friendly and can easily have a conversation with you, your guests or your children, or he is just as happy keeping quiet and skillfully going about his craft.
We interviewed and tested at least a half dozen private family chefs prior to meeting Mike. He was hands down the most skilled chef and the most "normal" person that we met. He is a pleasure to have in our home every week.

Turn your home into the best restaurant in Boston.
I will start this post by telling you two things. #1. I'm a bit of a food snob. #2. I don't do posts.
I'm making this my first ever post because my wife and I have had the pleasure of experiencing (and what an experience it is) Mike's culinary talents on several occasions and it's worth noting.
Mike’s ability to blend and layer various flavors is truly remarkable. Instead of assaulting your taste buds with a barrage of flavors (like so many chefs today), Mike’s technique coaxes the flavors out of meats and vegetables. You experience a wonderful flavor when first put it into your mouth then, like a fine wine, a remarkable finish after you swallow. That’s the best description I can give you when I refer to his layering technique.
My wife and I eat out quite often at some of the finer restaurants in Boston, but the best meals we have all year long are the ones Mike cook for us right here in our own home. We can’t recommend him high enough.

I have used Mike several times for private dinner parties, which have become one of the highlighted culinary events of the year. I would venture to say that these dinners are better than any meal, anywhere in Boston. We now have guest attend from all over the east coast if an invite is extended, it is that good.
First off, Mike is one of the most talented chef's, period. He has an incredible palate, an inventive appoach to food, an artistic sense and obvious passion for his profession. His use of the best seasonal ingredients is never boring, and you are able to offer your likes and dislikes to the entire menu. Add in that you are doing it at home, with your wine, and its an expereince not to be missed. Overall, prices are better than going out to a fine restaurant, the quality of the meal is better, and all of it is in the comfort of your home. Our last dinner featured Wagyu beef, cavier, black truffles, alaskan black cod, madagascar shrimp and Tuna. Enough said!

I can't say enough wonderful things about Mike. He has been cooking for my family for the last three years and we have not had one bad meal. In fact all of his meals have been delicious. He is very conscious about cooking healthy foods, using seasonal produce, and making balanced meals.
He always rises up to the challenge. He once had to make a meal for us and our guests but could not use nuts, onions and garlic (due to allergies) and it was amazing. My guests are still talking about how good it was.
Healthy and delicious. Mike prepares restaurant quality food, but knows how to make everything taste great while still being healthy. He is equally good serving a 4-course dinner party, and cooking family meals to be reheated later (and we have had him do both for us). HIs prices end up better than ordering take-out, yet you know that the ingredients are the highest quality. Plus Mike is lovely to work with, and always has wonderful creative ideas for meals. For me, Mike makes being a working mother a lot easier job! I highly and wholeheartedly recommend MIke for any cooking needs.
