No-frills yum.. What this place made me think of the moment I read the menu was: comfort food. No, not in the good ol'American sense of french toast, pancakes, and PB&J. More along the lines of udon noodles, scallion omelette, and a dumpling here and there. While most of the menu appears to be Korean, there's enough variety for fans of other Asian cuisines to enjoy themselves.

The atmosphere is nice, although it takes a moment to get used to the place. You order and pay for your food at the cashier, take a seat, and then one of two things may happen: someone might just bring your food from the kitchen, or you might just be called to get it at the counter. I'll assume they're still greasing their own wheels, since the place just opened.

My first order was a "control subject": a scallion pancake. I figured I've had this in enough varieties at enough restaurants to be able to judge the quality, and I was very surprised. It was remarkably thin, with just enough scallions to give it some flavor, and a delicious dipping sauce.

I then moved onto a more unusual appetizer: boiled pork belly. Bear with me, I have no issue with organ meat, and this was simple and tasty. If you've been raised eating the stuff, you'll probably appreciate it as much as I did.

The last item consisted of udon in a beed stew. The portion was more than generous, and the soup was made with proper beed chuck. As I said before, this is a no-frills place. The soup itself was simple and delicious, the sort of dish one's mom might make on a Sunday afternoon.

In short, this is a place I'd recommend trying at least once. It's not completely different, but enough to warrant a visit. I wish they had organized the space a bit better, since seating is limited for the amount of room they have, but if your idea of a pleasant afternoon is to sit with a laptop or book in front of a bowl of noodles and some quick bites, I highly recommend this.
