Citysearch Editorial Review.
The curated merchandise at minimalist boutique Uncle Pete’s sharply infuses this otherwise-preppy stretch of Beacon Hill with understatedly hip collections for men and women. The shop stocks graphic sweatshirts, utilitarian jackets and casual streetwear in city-approved brands like Rag & Bone, 7 for All Mankind, Commes de Garcons and Tretorn. The store design uses industrial elements to create a bare vibe: fitting rooms are constructed out of unfinished plywood—kind of like changing in a shed--and shelves are made of roughly surfaced boards. The display case near the cash register is a happy home for chunky jewelry and a small selection of men’s accessories.
