Not Happy. I would give Emerge a much better review based on decor and cleanliness as well as customer service, but what inevitably brought it down was my stylist. I saw Tomas Anthony for a woman's cut a few months ago. I've waited this long to write a review because I was hoping the initial awkward, unflattering haircut he gave me would eventually grow out to be fabulous and manageable...it hasn't at all. Plain and simple, it's horrible.

How can I express how much my haircut has affected my confidence? It has depleted it. It is not at all what I asked for. I have tried so many different techniques when styling to make it work and it just looks ridiculous.

Tom Anthony basically gave me a layer of bangs around the entire top of my head. It looks like I have two different haircuts. Even my friends have asked me what the hell is going on with my hair. I went to another hairstylist last month to see if he could work any magic and I was told I would have to wait another six months before this awkward foolish looking layer would grow out enough. SIX MONTHS! I'm distressed to say the least.

On top of the disaster sitting on my head, this guy struck me as totally unprofessional. When I expressed to him that maybe he was making the top too thick and too short he didn't listen. He said that he was the expert. When he was finished and I expressed I wasn't completely satisfied with the cut, he offered no apologies and didn't handle the situation with any tact. He made no effort to hide the fact that he was offended.

He kept talking about his previous jobs negatively and said some borderline vulgar things. I can appreciate a stylist building a rapport with their client, but honestly TMI! Too much information.

I wish I never went to this stylist. I would however recommend Emerge to others because the Spa and Salon were actually quite nice. Just do yourself a favor and steer clear of Tom.

Artistic, Kind,Talented, Top Knotch Hair Stylist. Robert Nazzaro, is the best stylist I've ever encountered. I've been going to hime for many years and his styles never get old they just get better. His hair cuts always leave me feeling like I'm ready for a vouge photo shoot, not to mention how pampered he makes me feel. I constantly get compliments on my highlights and low lights. He's a master when it comes to foiling my hair. . Robert always knows what to do to give me just the right balance of highlights. If your lookiing for a master stylist he's it. I finally don't have to look any further i'm staying with him for life. If you want to feel like a queen I recommend Robert !!

Waxing & Facial's by Alla. I've been going to Emerge for the past 3 years to see Alla. I've had my eyebrows wax at many places before and she is the best! She is awesome! If your looking to great waxing or facial done you have to go see Alla. I would recommend her to anyone.

AMAZING Cut and Highlights--thank you SALLY!. I'm the kind of person who has kept her hair the same for preetty much her whole life..hardly ever go for more than a trim...I was ready for a change. I wasnt exactly sure what I wanted and so going somewhere with people I could trust to know what would fit my face and my style best was really important to me.

Sally Drinkwater was the stylist who put all my fears at ease! She almost seemed to have been reading my mind the whole time through! I ended up going with something that was much more funky and interesting than my old hair but still fitting for me.

She knew the PERFECT red color to put as highlights my dark brown hair (I had never dyed my hair previously) and the perfect cut. DEFINITELY planning on going back--was absolutely worth it and Ive only gotten great feedback from friends! I dont have even ONE negative thing to say about the place..Sally is the best! thank you!!!

Mens Club is the Best. Emerge is a great full service salon/spa with a wide variety of services but what i really love about Emerge is the Mens club. Its a great place to relax before and after what ever treatments you may have being done.

Anna, where have you been all my life!!!. What a find! Anna was the best my hair has seen in years. I had my hair highlighted and cut by Anna, it was the best my hair has looked, and the greatest thing is, that I can REPRODUCE it at home!!!.

She took the time with me, gave me ALL kinds of pointers for me to do with my hair at home, and I can do it! I was happy to set up my next appt with her. She is only there 3 weeks a month, and works in another city for one week. The salon is beautiful, too. And I had the best shampoo also, Marisa gave me such a great shampoo, and head massage, it felt great! I look great! Thanks, I feel so pretty!

Jeffrey does an amazing highlight!. Jeffrey does an amazing highlight especially for blondes!

I have been going to another posh Newbury St. salon for years and recently saw Jeffrey at Emerge. He had won best of Boston in 2007 but I went on the suggestion of another stylist. I have to say, he did an unbelievable job of highlighting my hair. I absolutely loved it and so did my husband. I never thought I'd change my highlight hairdresser but now I definitely will. He also was very fun to be around and it was a great experience overall.

Poor customer service; overpriced for quality. While the decor of the spa area is very inviting and relaxing, that's about the only thing going for this spa. This front desk staff is RUDE and pretty incompentent, and no one seems to know how the process works. WORD TO THE WISE: Make sure you call and confirm your appointment and details before showing up, and once you check in. I scheduled a basic manicure with a hand exfoliation ($30 + $15 extra for exfoliation) but they put it in the system as a Delux manicure, which is almost twice as expensive. I didn't verify this when I checked in and got stuck paying for the delux manicure, since the manicurist used parafin instead of exfoliant.

I've been to plenty of spas on Newbury and this one is simply not worth the cost.

Great Hair by Jeffrey. I went to Emerge the day after a terrible experience at another salon.....my hair was orange with a million other colors mixed into it. I went in as Jefferys last appointment and he spent a long time fixing my hair color, he stayed past the time they closed to make sure that I could walk around in public again and the color came out great. He was really nice and I immediately felt as though I was in good hands, I will definitly be seeing him again. The salon and spa areas were beautiful, I highly reccommend coming here, especially for hair.

Only 1 front desk employee was polite !!!. Friday the 13th around 6:00 in the evening I came into Emerge for some info about the services they offer. I stood at the desk for at least 10 min and all the girls behing the desk were just standing around, no one asked if I needed any help. I looked around at the products and then asked for some info about services. I was handed a brochure and that was all. I was looking through it when a young lady who worked there came from upstairs and came right over to ask if I needed help with anything. She was SO POLITE & PROFESSIONAL, she introduced herself to me (her name was Christine) and proceeded to explain the different services and asked what I was interested in having done. She even gave me a wonderful tour! This young lady was very helpful & even took the time to explain the product lines to me. OF ALL THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE DESK CHRISTINE WAS THE ONLY ONE TO HELP ME!!! I did overhear one of the other girls speak very rudely to a client so I recommend when you go to Emerge ask for Christine to help book your appointments!
