“Curiosity piqued, I stood in line for a BBQ seitan sandwich, which was tasty and filling.”
Healthy Budget Beauty.
Stumbled across the Clover Food Lab truck today while investigating the South Station Farmer's Market. What is this mysterious long line? And look at that menu - $5 for a sandwich? $3 for a salad? All vegetarian?
Curiosity piqued, I stood in line for a BBQ seitan sandwich, which was tasty and filling. I'm guessing that t the chickpea sandwiches are the most popular. They seemed to be super-crispy and Mediterranean-inspired (dressed with pink pickled onions and a...yogurt sauce?).
More reasons to support Clover Food Lab: according to their website, all ingredients are just-cut, local, and (soon) organic. Bottom line: Would reactivate Twitter account just to stalk this truck.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Though it may sit next to the typical lunch trucks shilling decent but unremarkable burritos, lo mein and falafel, Clover Food Lab sets the bar skyhigh for mobile restaurants with a market-driven, wallet-friendly, geek-chic menu. Parked near Kendall Square outside the MIT medical building, the lunch-counter-on-wheels (founded by an MIT alum) doles local, fresh, organic ingredients in the form of tasty, made-to-order day snacks like eggy popovers, seitan sandwiches, brothy mushroom soup, rosemary-laden fries, eggplant salad and agave-sweetened iced tea. Menu updates on Twitter, the ability to email in an order, and a streamlined iPhone-centric order-processing system set this street food experience apart.
