Confused mix. Lord Hobo was quite an interesting trip. If you like beer (and who doesn't!) it's worth at least one trip to see the huge selection of taps, and to try some excellent European brews that are hard to find on draft. The food was also good, fries with an assortment of truffled sauces, lardons in your salad, standard delicious gastropub fare.

There are two things that get seriously in the way of my really endorsing this place.

First, the prices. Everything we had was good, but I mean, compare the prices: Starlite Burger at Trina's? $7. Burger at Hobo? $13. Cheapest fries side order at Hobo? $7. Gravy fries at Trina's? $5. And the thing is, I kinda think Trina's wins out on taste. So, mark one against Hobo.

Secondly, the service was bizarre. I did not feel the love while there, and though I'm sure it's improved since then (some working out of the kinks always happens opening week) I was left with a bad enough taste that I really don't want to go back.

I know it's all the rage right now, and I'm slowly working myself up for another visit, but I really think it's a little over-hyped.

Come all ye thirsty. I was gitty as a school girl when I finally got to sit myself at the bar at the former B-Side Lounge space, aka Lord Hobo. The place has got a lot of buzz since its opening and I was eager to see it for myself. First thing you notice is the enormous selection of brews on tap. They are not kidding here. If you dont like beer, skip this part. For the rest of you, good heavens! You'll let me try them? What do I like? The options vary to what you quickly reveal reveal to the barstaff, which will hold your hand through the sampling process. Well, almost. Definitely not "can I have a bud" place.

The food is good. I wouldn't say great since it looks like the menu was written with gastropub flair that seems a bit pricey. I am giving it some room here for opening establishment menu re-jigging, which is inevitable in the first 3-6 months as the place finds its rhythm. Fried oysters were a hit as well as truffle fries. The deviled eggs were also a good starter. All-in-all, more remains to be tried and I will be back to try the dinner menu, after another beer consultation. Lord Hobo, revancha awaits.
