This Chinatown/Leather District lounge attempts to transport you in mind (if not in body) to South Beach, complete with a roof deck with cabanas and daybeds. This is probably the only place in Boston where you can be horizontal while martini-sipping and not get arrested for disorderly conduct. In addition to a select cocktail, wine and beer list, there’s an expansive menu with 30 tapas and a dozen burgers served in tasty brioche buns and accompanied by crisp fries. There are two rooms for billiards and two connecting lounges with decor that goes from soft gray to industrial black.

Look Good:

Think Hollywood-Vegas-South Beach style and don't spare the sparkles.

Know Before You Go:

You won't need a swimsuit for a pool party at Splash. The faux pool is a token four inches deep, with three arcs of water providing eye candy.

When to Go:

Hit Splash in the early evening for food and a quiet drink; late night for a more club scene crowd.

Where to Sit:

For gritty urban romanticism, take a street-side stool on the roof deck and watch the sun set over the expressway.

What to Drink:

Cocktails with lots of fresh fruits score high marks, like the fresh blackberries muddled with Stoli Blackberry and the hint of lime in the blackberry and lime martini. Or think pink with the fuchsia-colored Desert Pear Margarita made from top-notch tequila.

The Extras:

Splash does food delivery from 3pm to 4am.

Parking:

Avoid circling the block on busy weekend nights and use the valet parking instead.

Fun Fact:

Two old favorites remain from News, the site's former incarnation: the marinated steak tips and the old squashy brown couches, which now sit in the VIP enclosure.
