“short walk from the T (Stony Brook, I believe), BL/MW boasts a spacious dining/ bar area, delicious pizzas (the other food looked & smelled amazing), a great beer selection, and a friendly staff, not to mention a decent amount of parking in the lot outs”

Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!!!.
I absolutely LOVE Bella Luna. I'm a JP girl and was never old enough to go to Bella Luna & Milky Way Lounge at it's previous location. But where it is now is great. It's pretty spacious, nice staff, GREAT food, GREAT drinks and you can host parties there TOO. There is a pool table and good music. Every night is a different theme. It's really comfortable to be in. I recommend the Mozzarella Sticks and the Eggplant Parmesan. I come here all the time. It's not cheap but it's not ridiculously pricey either.
Just go and check it out. It's worth a visit but make sure you check the calendar to see what day you want to go to, as they have "Dike Night", "80's Night" and "Latin Night" among others.
New location, new kind of awesome.
When Bella Luna & The Milky Way had to relocate, many viewed it as an end of an awesome era. Well, having recently visited the new location, I can safety say that yes, this JP hot spot may be in a new era, but it is an era of good times and fun.
A short walk from the T (Stony Brook, I believe), BL/MW boasts a spacious dining/ bar area, delicious pizzas (the other food looked & smelled amazing), a great beer selection, and a friendly staff, not to mention a decent amount of parking in the lot outside. And although there is no longer candlepin bowling, there is a big screen for wii games and the like in the back, not to mention a giant Connect 4. It's kinda like the Milky Way grew up (just a little bit) without getting all snotty and stuff.
Citysearch Editorial Review. In 2009, a rent hike forced beloved eatery Bella Luna and its club-y basement counterpart, the Milky Way, to consolidate into this boldly furnished single space in the historic Brewery complex. Gone are the vintage bowling lanes, sadly, but the lounge offers retro-chic games like Pac Man and pool tables. What’s lost in boho charm is made up for in extra parking spaces in the adjacent lot and even more fabulous food and drinks. The service and atmosphere is, as ever, neighborly. On the restaurant side, there’s a slew of familiar New England favorites: bar winners like gorgeous meaty crab cakes with tangy lemon and big, boneless Buffalo wings, and on the entree side, Italian staples like comforting eggplant parmigiano. Eclectic pizzas include tempeh vegan options and innovative specials. Late night, DJs rock the back room.
