Although Tory Row takes its name from Harvard Square’s historic past, it feels very much like a product of its own time. Owners Matthew Curtis and Chris Lutes gutted the space formerly occupied by longtime Harvard Square institution The Greenhouse, and transformed it (with the help of 2008 Harvard Design School grad Temple Simpson) into a scenester outfit, with wood paneling, slate-grey high-topped tables, and lowercase-lettered menus (which bear recession-era prices, vegetarian options and local beers).
