Fish Tacos!.
When I first saw this place I was a little skeptical because of it's close proximity to Anna's on Harvard Street. I thought "What moron would open a taqueria right next to Anna's in Brookline?" The people of Brookline have a strong bond to Anna's and rarely will they eat at other taquerias.
My sister had gone here and raved about the fish tacos. I LOOOVVVVEEEE FISH TACOS!!! So I had to try them. So one wednesday after band practice, my brother and I went to Dorado. I got the regular fish tacos, which to our suprise were $1.99 each on wednesdays. They are awesome! Since then I have gone back quite a few times and will continue to.
Like I said, at first I didn't think this place would survive, but it offers something different then Anna's. It has a completely different taste. It also just tastes super fresh. It kind of reminds me of this place in Brooklyn called Los Hermanos. Check that place out if you can...
Well played Dorado, well played.
the best fish tacos!!!. when i discovered this taco place a few weeks ago...i went back three days in a row to eat the yummy fish tacos! fresh grilled fish, salsa to die for.....
Fried fish bliss.
Authentic foods and honest preparation make this newly minted Brookline gem a must-visit. While not the friendliest, it's obvious that owner Organ is serious about his food. His dishes layer the bold flavors of a few course-chopped ingredients.
Delicious fish tacos define Dorado. Snack on an ensenada taco or spring for the two taco platter (complete with whole charred jalapeño). If you're thirsty, they've got sangria, jamaica, cane sugar Coca Cola, and even imported cerveza (beer).
Remember, this is street food, not some classy sit down affair. While clean and hip, you'll be served on eco-friendly paperware and leave within 20 minutes of arriving. Also, small portions account for the modest prices, so go ahead and order another taco. You'd get more for the price at one of the burrito shacks down the road, but why would you want that?
Cheap, Delicious, that is all I need. I finally tried Dorado tonight on this stormiest of nights. I got the portabella taco. Not to sound corny, and I don't say this about many things, but ohmygod it was a flavor explosion in my mouth: slightly spicy marinated mushrooms, avocado, salsa, and cotija cheese in soft corn tortillas. sooooo tasty. Bf got fish tacos which he loooved and a sirloin cemita, which I tasted (sans meat) and very much liked. Delicious, and super cheap. That's all I need. I can't wait to go back. On my list for visit #2: vegetarian cemita and taco plate.
Oaxaca calling!. Bold, snacktastic taqueria from Douglas Organ (formerly of JP's Cafe D) refreshes Brookline's 'rrito-and-sushi scene with a slew of tacos, cemitas (Mexican sandwiches) and Latin-tinged rotisserie chicken.
