“Being a super Irish jig they have live bands (usually some decent/fun cover bands) who provide the classic rock, but then they throw in some mainstream pop/club hits for the ladies who enjoy their trashy tunes to get down to.”
“my choice pub for good music and people”
my choice pub for good music and people. This would probably be my pub of choice when going out in Boston. Thurs-Sat nights are obviously the most popular, and the place can get a bit crowded but it's usually a much cooler/laid back scene than most others (it's not a club but there is a small dance floor, so that's where the dbags might come out but whatever, they're everywhere). There's the typical floor space for dancing, kinda small and terrible when it gets over-crowded, but the music is my favorite part. Being a super Irish jig they have live bands (usually some decent/fun cover bands) who provide the classic rock, but then they throw in some mainstream pop/club hits for the ladies who enjoy their trashy tunes to get down to. Best of both worlds as I like to think! And as opposed to most of my friends, I'm still young enough to not get totally annoyed by the club scene, but when I want something a little more laid-back but still fun and dance encouraging I pick this place for sure.
Live music and Irish food enliven Fenway neighborhood pub. Outfitted like a classically Victorian, vaguely Irish pub, the enormous Lansdowne covers many bases, with European soccer and other sporting events aired on the large central screen and live music on weekends. The menu reads like average pub grub, but the result is far better. It’s all around solid fare, mostly inspired by beer-sopping, British-Irish, chip shop favorites such as battered sausage, beans, fries … and deep-fried Mars bars! However, besides that cholesterol clutterbug, there are decidedly healthier options like the frisee salad with egg, crab-stuffed smoked salmon and avocado. The skillet-cooked mussels are a favorite for their dense, smoky, campfire flavor. A definite winner, whichever team you’re cheering on.
