Editorial Review for The Fairbanks Inn – by Gayot.com

The Scene
This inn is housed in a 200-year-old colonial mansion. Ornate Oriental rugs cover wood floors, and common spaces range from the rooftop deck to the porch. In the cooler seasons, the living and dining rooms are lit and heated by beautiful fireplaces. The innkeeper is also a locally known photographer, and her work adorns the walls.

The Details
Decor follows the colonial motif of the architecture. In the rooms you'll find sleigh beds, private fireplaces, antique furniture and wall hangings dating back to the 18th century. Most rooms have private baths. Breakfast is served in a lovely courtyard garden during the warmer months; breakfast in bed is always another option. The inn features free parking and bike racks, depending on which mode of transportation you choose to use. It is in an excellent location for access to the galleries and shops of downtown Provincetown.

This was our first stay at the Fairbanks Inn, but I certainly hope that it won't be our last. Alicia and Kathy took great care of us! They were warm and welcoming and so was their inn. The breakfast was DELICIOUS (I love my food) and the rooms were cozy and romantic. When a friend came to visit for a day, she jokingly (sort of) asked if they would adopt her! The rooms were well kept with fireplaces and small televisions, the common room was lively and conversational and the staff made us feel like we were amongst friends.

Pros: Breakfast, parking, sunporch, private bathrooms, fireplaces,

Not only is the best value in Provincetown, it is also the best run, the best location, and the friendliest place in town. The rooms are subtlely and beautifully decorated, the beds extraordinarily comfortable for a B&B, and one of the owners bakes chocolate chip cookies at 4 PM. The fireplace in the living room was roaring and it attracted a wonderfully eclectic group of people from many parts of the country to engage in very stimulating conversation. At the Fairbanks Inn you are literally only steps away from all the activity on Commercial Street. If you are driving, the Fairbanks Inn offers free parking on the premises. The best of the best.

Pros: Comfortable beds, Great interior decor, Stimulating people

Cons: None
