“At lunch we ordered three lobster salad rolls and were rushed through the whole meal by the rude hostess Karen.”
“They're a reason you see so many old people eating at Capt.Mardens, You can get a nice meal for a decent price.”
“one of the area's best kept secrets, i don't mind the plastic plates, great prices, kid-friendly!”
This place is like Legal use to be.
This restaurant brings back memories of when I was a kid and went to the original Legal Seafood... inexpensive great fresh seafood with great service. The restaurant adjoins their fish market so you know the fish is fresh and it tastes that way. The menu is not expansive and concentrated on fish dishes broiled and friend and baked.
The Sunday brunch is terrific too. Again, you can't beat the value as this is the best value in Wellesley and one of the best little seafood places in the burbs.
Very Bad Service. You have to wait even there was empty table. We have 5 people and have to share in 4 people table. Even there is other empty tables.
Extremely rude service, poorly managed, with poorly trained staff. This has to be the most poorly managed restaurant I have visited in years. The older hostess/manager is extremely rude. After waiting for 40 minutes while 5 tables were open, she came to our table to take our order 1 minute after we got the menu. Not being ready, she told us that we "better be ready when she comes back"!! We resisted and said we just sat down, but got an evil eye from her each time she passed. The is no reason to pay money to get this kind of treatment. The restaurant should just get a better manager, train the staff right, and run this restaurant at a more respectable level. The food was very average, but cheap. Maybe that's why some people put up with her attitude. Folks, its the worth the discount to dine here.
Bargain-priced, super-fresh fish, served in a bare-bones setting that emphasizes flavor over fluff..
The Scene
Once a well-kept secret, Captain Marden's bright, clean dining room often features a wait for one of its two dozen seats (no reservations are accepted). A handful of counter seats are perfect for those dining alone or in a hurry. With plastic utensils, styrofoam plates, and an incredibly young waitstaff, don't expect to be pampered. This is a popular spot for families and seniors. A retail shop sells fish of all stripes, both fresh and frozen.
The Food
Many of the city's top chefs use Captain Marden's wholesale arm as their primary supplier of seafood; the fish served here is exceptional. Haddock and scrod can be prepared broiled or fried, but that's about it, as preparations and presentations are spare. Heaping plates of cheesy shrimp parmesan and fresh lobster rolls round out the menu. For less than two bucks, diners can finish their meal with a slice of homemade pie.
great seafood spot. one of the area's best kept secrets, i don't mind the plastic plates, great prices, kid-friendly!
