One of the best restaurant with food/price balance. I'm not rating it as a Italian restaurant since I'm not an Italian. But, for the price, I think Papa Razzi is very good.

I think their appetizers are good, pasta dishes are okay. Osso Bucco is great but only on Saturday specials.

The atmosphere is not modern/contemporary, so not a place for drinks.

But, overall, I find myself keep coming back to the place

Once a good place, has fallen. I was introduced to Para Razi in downtown Boston in the late 90's. Back then I considered it as a good food, a bit pricy but a sure thing. Good atmosphere, service, and consistency kept me as a patron of Papa Razi for almost 10 years but the last 3 incidents with very bad service involving several parties has knocked this place out off my list.

As part of the far-reaching Back Bay Restaurant Group, Papa Razzi mirrors sister establishments like Joe's American Bar & Grill and Charley's by serving an accessible, family-friendly menu at affordable prices in a relaxed setting. Soothing color schemes and black-and-white photos of the famous and infamous (a nod to the restaurant's name) provide plenty of atmosphere, as do gregarious, attentive servers. When there's a wait, there's a well-stocked bar for passing the time.

The Food
While perusing the menu of colorful salads, wood-fired thin-crust pizzas, and made-to-order pasta dishes, most diners absent-mindedly devour a basket of warm, freshly baked focaccia and breadsticks. Palatable insalata di campo, which combines mixed greens, dried cranberries, tomatoes and Gorgonzola in balsamic vinaigrette, makes a worthy starter. Among the signature pastas, the Porcini tortelloni, smothered in a savory wild mushroom and tomato sauce, is a sturdy crowd-pleaser. For dessert, creamy gelatos provide a cooling finish.

Cold Food, Bad Service. I walk in to order take-out. I wait over 45 minutes just to find my food was sittign on teh bench for an 1/2 hour. They take the food back into the kitchen and return with bread sticks as a "I'm Sorry". I get home and my food was ice cold. They never even replaced teh meal or heated it up. I called to complain and got a terrible response.

Good food, spotty service. The Wellesley location of Papa Razzi has pretty spotty service. Since I work and grew up near it, I've probably been to this location 20 times. Service is typically slow and inattentive, and maybe 1 out of 3 servers know what they are talking about. The food is pretty good for a chain. The pastas receive passable renditions, the breadsticks and bread are nice. I think their antipasto is excellent. The choices for decent Italian around Wellesley are pretty limited, so this is fine if you can put up with the sometimes frustrating service you will more than likely get.

Snooty service. It's always a game of catch-the-waiter in this place. You can sit there for 15 minutes and watch the waiters go by without even looking in your direction. If you don't ask what the specials are, good chance you won't hear about them. Managers don't seem to give a damn.

Food is OK. Salads are very good, I've had better pasta at Bertucci's and Olive Garden. Everything's a bit pricey.
