I know first hand what goes on at First Path, and all I can say is that parents need to make many SURPRISE visits and they too will see first hand how horrible the place really is! Also, try and talk to a teacher AWAY from the supervisor because she will not allow it. She likes to sugar coat EVERYTHING and manipulate what is seen and heard by the parents. There has always been a ratio problem here because she cannot keep staff!! (That too should explain what type of place it is!) PLEASE be careful with your kids going here!!
Pros: Good park, paid for by the CITY!!
Cons: ratio, teachers, treatment of children, lack of communication to parents!

My 4 & 2.5 year olds attend FP. Both waited to get in. The negative comments below are perplexing. First, there are laws about teacher/child ratios and FP would have been shut down long ago if those claims were true. Strapping down children? Are you crazy? In all the times we showed up unannounced to take a child to an appointment or go home w/Nana and Papa, we never saw anything like that. If those accusations were true, again, the center would be shut down. Director’s holistic, ethical, & diversity-centered philosophy engenders respect, politeness, & kindness. She sets high teacher standards; if they don’t like or can’t abide by them, they leave. My 4 y-o began in T2, now thrives in Preschool. It took him a while to potty train; teachers & director were patient & encouraging. He brings home creative projects; (almost) always says please & thank you; is kind & empathetic. He counts to 100 (w/help on round numbers); he knows some Spanish & German. W/prodding he names all planets (I didn’t teach him that); knows he shouldn’t say bad words like “stupid” and blocks his ears when said (I didn’t teach him that); knows spoilers help cars go fast (ok, I taught him that). My 2 y-o began in T1 & received good care--may even have been spoiled. Started potty training in T1 & now nearly trained. Her current loving & caring teachers tell me details of her day. She recites the alphabet, sings the French version of Frere Jacques, and tells us when the moon is out. I’d like to take all of the credit for this, but I can’t; FP helps my kids be the best they can be. Reasonable tuition. Dance, music, piano lessons also reasonable. Parents could opt for inexpensive public (and after-) schools but most stay at FP. Close playground. Though open to public, teachers’ rule: only look at children. Even while talking to you, it’s more important for teachers to keep their eyes on kids. Try to go out 2x/day: playground; walks to library, fire station; look at animals, insects, flowers.
Pros: Safe, nurturing environment with myriad creative activities. “It’s-all-about-the-child” philosophy. Professional, knowledgeable leadership. (Sought and received excellent advice.)
Cons: Waiting for space. Kids stay beyond Preschool and PreK so moving to the next class can be a slight wait.
