Dirty. Barry does not wear gloves. Dirty, Barry does not wear gloves. He is constantly handling cash then wiping his face, after that he reaches into the deli case and grabs the bulk meat, or smoked fish without washing his hands...Its disgusting.

How the City of Newton lets him do this is beyond me.

Watch him next time you are in there. The other employees occasionally wear gloves, but I have noticed they do not use them all the time either. Unfortunately for me they are the only deli within 5 miles of where I live so when I have to but smoked fish or corned beef its the only show in town. I wish another deli would open so I had a choice.

Unfriendly and a moron. I tried order food from Barry's. they said "i don't go out the store for one person."

they wanted me to spend $100.

sorry Barry for wanting a turkey sandwich and some soup.

Worst Deli Ever. This is the worst deli I have ever been to. I drove from Framingham to Newton as I used to go there when I worked in Newton and it was good. I got a cornbeef and chop liver sandwich with onion and it was 19.89. The meat was dry, the chop liver was awful and sandwich fell apart upon opening it. Not to mention they asked me if I wanted a bag of chips, which they had a wide assortment of, and when I was given the sandwich they specifcally wanted me to take a bag of wise chips, which needless to say I didn't, I took what I wanted. I would never go here again, never recommend them again, and they are rude to boot. However, I guess when you are the only game in town you have them cornered. Definately off my list and will make sure anyone I know knows how lousey this place is. I picked "one star" but it doesn't even deserve that. I won't even get into the cleanliness factor, its a dump as far I am concerned.

Editorial Review. Waban institution has catered thousands of events and parties and sells some of the best corned beef and latkes around.
