The Scene
Rare is the time when all 13 seats aren't taken in the blink-and-you'll-miss-it dining room. Odds are once you're seated, you'll find yourself face-to-fish at the sushi bar, where expert hands slice and roll fresh, top-quality seafood.
The Food
While the sushi is superb, don't neglect the rest of the extensive menu, as the hot dishes are exceptional as well. For starters, the miso soup is light and flavorful, and the shrimp and vegetable tempura isn't greasy. The beef yaki ishi, a heaping portion of vegetables, rice, and steak on a sizzling stone grill, lets you cook. Regarding Oishii's sushi, the options seem endless; the rolls are filling and of the highest quality. The Boston maki features salmon, avocado, cucumber, and Boston lettuce, and fresh, tangy pickled ginger and butt-kicking wasabi add to the experience.

Really cheap ($27 for sushi for two? I think) and pretty good sushi this side of town. Not spectacular, but the chefs have good skill. ( I think the skill of the chefs are comparable to that of high class sushi places like Nobu in NYC, but the ingreidients are not as high class.) Almost no space to sit in.... impossible for parties larger than 4 (There's like 10 seats) but takeout was pretty fast. All in all, pretty tasty sushi for a great price ! And it's by a real Japanese person... so it gets 5 stars lol

I first went to Oishii back in 2000 and the food was amazing. Rumor has it that the chef had worked at Nobu (NYC). Fast forward to 2008, the menu is still the same, dated since early 2000. The food is awful and expensive. ($82 for 2 rolls and a couple of apps and 1 beer for 2 people) I wonder if they changed ownership? I had the hamachi tata app ($17) and it was a spoonful of pre-chopped fish in sour soy sauce that can give your stomach ulcer. The nuta octopus ($8) was supposed to be marinated in a special Japanese sauce, well it arrived covered with American mayo ! The decor is still the same, dingy and cramped. The food used to be great so the place was charming. Now, it is just dingy and smelly. Recently I had take out with a friend and we both had stomach issues at 5am till the next afternoon. The more I think about what I have eated tonight, I am feeling sick to my stomach. Needless to say, I won't be going back and I do not recommend this to anyone.
