Best rolls around. I guess I'll admit that I've become fairly snobby and normally turn my nose up at chain restaurants because for some reason the food usually just doesn't taste as good as more "authentic" family-owned or homemade places, but Bertucci's is a place that I won't turn down. Anyone who has been to Bertucci's (a.k.a. all of Massachusetts), loves their rolls. The rolls basically melt right into your mouth. I recommend going to Bertucci's just for the rolls alone. An extra bonus is if you go for lunch, you get free salad, too! The salad is very good and it is unlimited. The pizza is also quite delicious. A personal favorite of mine is the pizza with vegetables, but I also have a few friends and family members who love the Silano pizza which comes with a cream sauce, chicken and broccoli (yum!) Note: I'm pretty fond of the eggplant as well (didn't want to leave that one out ;) They have a great selection of sandwiches, salads, pastas, and pizzas, and of course you'll want to save room for a decent amount of rolls.
Local chain serves popular brick oven pizza and sturdy Italian favorites to the appreciative masses..
The Scene
With over a dozen locations in the greater Boston area, diners don't have to travel far to enjoy a fast, affordable meal of brick oven pizza, fresh salads, and pasta dishes. Regardless of the location, expect to see many families--kids are given raw dough to play with--and young couples on dates. Servers are more than happy to keep refilling baskets of the excellent oven-warm rolls. A pedestrian wine and beer list is available, though most diners opt for soft drinks or water.
The Food
Bertucci's deservedly prides itself on serving up consistently tasty pies with above-average toppings like carmelized onions, roasted zucchini and portobello mushrooms. Because they're wood-fired in a brick oven, the pies have a wonderfully smoky, crunchy crust. Standard antipasto plates and large salads are popular choices to start a meal. Desserts (boring tiramisu, creamy gelato) are better enjoyed elsewhere.
