Tips for The Barn Family Shoe Store

I used to shop at this store in years past but will no longer be returnning to the Barn since they now seem to put customer service and satisfaction last. I have seen reviews on Yelp that agree with this sentiment.

The barn has unbelievably poor customer service and store management. Their return policy is ridiculously strict and unaccommodating. A complete rip off. Will never shop here again.

I got everything I needed for Kids for summer. I went it for sneakers for the kids and was delighted to find the Kids Barn has crocs, sandals too, And I was able to get them tanks, swimsuits, and all the shorts and athletic stuff they need for camp.

Love the store!

My doctor told me the best place to find shoes is The Barn Family Shoe Store.. After two years of suffering with foot issues, my doctor told me the best place to find shoes is The Barn Family Shoe Store. I am so grateful for his advice. When I first walked in, I was amazed at the number of styles available in each quality brand. As I browsed around, I was equally impressed with the number of Sales people and the knowledge they expressed to customers with various concerns. Skeptically, I explained my problem to Dave. He quickly proposed 5 different shoes that might ease my foot pain. He explained in detail why he chose each shoe and as I gave him feedback, he directed me to other alternatives. With his patience and vast knowledge of the options we quickly found not one but two pairs of shoes that relieve my pain. The Barn has such a great selection of so many quality brands of shoes and great service. Why would anyone shop for shoes anywhere else?

"a shoe and winter boot shopping extravaganza". My family of four just experienced a shoe and winter boot shopping extravaganza at The Barn Family Shoe Store! We went into The Barn hoping for the best, and the best is what happened. Even my finicky teenagers were excited with all the popular brand name shoes and boots that were all around us. We had a super shopping experience at The Barn, and I highly recommend this place to one and all!

great local shoe store. When we moved to Newton more than 10 years ago our friends and neighbors gave us a list of the stores in the area that we should be sure to check out. When it came to shoe stores, they all said that The Barn was the place to go. We followed their advice and went there then for shoes for the entire family. We were very happy with the selection, brands, service, and the store itself. Years later we are still getting our shoes there and are now recommending it to our new friends in the neighborhood.

Real Customer Service!. I had not been to The Barn since my mother took me there for Back to School shoes. What a great surprise to find after 10 years it's still there and better than ever. My childhood memory was of a big store, but the selections and number of brands seemed even bigger now.

Best of all, they still have the same great sales staff, who are helpful, knowledgeable and really wait on you to make sure you get what you are looking for.

Plan on going back more often now!

Not just a "shoe store".... The Barn is not just a store, it's an institution - it's amazing how everyone knows this place! My mother brought me to The Barn when I was young and now I bring my family (it's nice to have consistency!). And consistent is what The Barn is - great selection, excellent customer service (helpful but not the least bit pushy), fair prices and tremendous atmosphere. The adult side is almost cozy - with plenty of seats to either try shoes on or just relax for a minute. Our eldest daughter (10) asked for a pair of Uggs last winter - we were a bit reluctant but The Barn had her size and a great price - so it was tough to say no. We highly recommend The Barn -

Unbelievably bad customer service. Something is terribly wrong in this store but I don't know what it is. They seem to hate customers and the mangement seems to think that's O.K. The shoes are good but in the women's department the customer service is beyond terrible. I'm looking at these ratings because I've had a couple of terrible experiences and I do not want to go back. On my last trip, the clerk in the women's department was rude and hostile. She was ignorant about the stock and was either too stupid or lazy to understand what I wanted to buy. She was verbally abusive. She mocked me to the other sales clerks within my hearing. As others have described, she became actively hostile when I tried to help myself, - e.g. telling me I had to make up my mind what I wanted , that I can't take things out or try them on, and she followed me around watching me like a hawk to make sure that I did not separate the tie between the two shoes so that I could try to take full steps while I walked in them. She then removed the three pairs of shoes that I had put aside to buy because I was "making a mess." It was a truly unbelievable experience and needless to say I want to find another place to buy shoes.
