Great Sauce Thin Crust. Sweet Tomatoes is the perfect name because the tomato sauce on their pizza truly is really sweet. They also have the perfect balance between sauce and cheese so the pizza is not overly cheesey. Big slices are a plus. The toppings are really fresh. And, the thin crust is perfect. All around this might be the best pizza in boston area.

Tasty, unusual designer pies distinguish this tiny Newton Centre pizza destination.. The Scene
An offshoot of two successful locations on Cape Cod, this tiny operation has become an area favorite for gourmet pizza. Many come with intentions of devouring their pie straight out of the oven, but with only nine seats, most of the restaurant's business is takeout. When weather permits, two sidewalk tables provide one of the few places in town to munch al fresco. Young, energetic pizza makers give the place a lively feel.

The Food
Sweet Tomatoes' continued success is a testament to its unusual approach to pizza: traditional red sauce is replaced by chopped, uncooked tomatoes, while the oil-free dough is rolled very thin, producing a thin-crust pizza with surprising heft. Pies come sans tomatoes ("white") or cheese ("red"), or in popular specialty varieties like chicken fajita and pesto splash. The only other items on the menu are large rectangular calzones and fresh Greek, Caesar and baby spinach salads.

Pizza relief. Being a college student living in Brighton Center, Sweet Tomatoes is the perfect relief from the "dime-a-dozen" take out pizza spots that populate Brighton. Instead of offering the same old pizza that you can find anywhere on washington st or cleveland circle, Sweet Tomatoes offers thin crust pizza with fresh toppings. It is nice to walk into a pizza parlor and see more than just an oven and counter with the menu listed above. Going into Sweet Tomatoes you get the feeling that they are in business for reasons other than to just turn a profit. You get the feeling that the staff here really enjoys their work and their customers.

Amazing pizza. I came here after shopping at a baby boutique in the Newton Highlands (amazing place by the way) and was amazed at how good the pizzas were.

Not only do they have fresh ingredients, but their pizza topping combos are very creative and tasty. I've since visited a few times and every pizza I've had has consistently been amazing. For those who like the thinner crusts this is a must.

My only complaints were that they had very limited seating and taking a stroller inside was a challenge.

A slice of NY in Newton. No doubt, better than half the pizza's I've had in NYC and I've had a lot..great thin crust with just the right amount of sauce (love the chunks of tomoto) and cheese. If you're looking to get away from the thick, greasy, tangy "Greek" style pizza you find in Boston then Sweet Tomatoes is the place to go. Make sure to ask them to get the crust crispy. Reheats great too.

Great pizza with below average service. The pizza at Sweet Tomatoes is incredible. Perfect thin crusted, brick oven pizza. The service, however, leaves much to be desired.

The first time I went to Sweet Tomatoes, I ordered in person and paid, went for a walk, then came back to pick up my pizza. As I was leaving, I was accused by the staff of not paying for the pizza (aka stealing) because they did not remember that I paid only ten minutes prior (same cashier)! The second time I went, I ordered and waited inside. When my pizza was ready, a young woman at the register called my name and practically threw the pizza at me- so she could get back to talking with her friend.

Overall, I would reccomend Sweet Tomatoes, beacuse the good pizza still overshadows the service.

Great Pizza. Following the trend of high rents pushing many good restaurants out of the city center, this place rocks--delicious pizza. Highly recommended. OK, fine, so it's not in the top ten on the East Coast--only Galleria Umberto in the North End can put Boston in that pantheon--but it's delicious in every way.

Some of the best pizza in Greater Boston. A little more expensive than your average pizzeria, but worth every penny. Every ingredient is extremely fresh and delicious. I've dined in on occassion but I usually take out.

Great Pizza!. Since moving to Newton we've tried many different Pizza places and Sweet Tomatoes is by far the BEST. The thin crust is perfect... I highly recommend the Hawaiian or just a plain cheese (Margarita) pizza. Both are D-licious!

Terrible pizza. I went to Sweet Tomatoes for pizza last night with some friends, and not only did they screw up our order three times in a row (yes, three times!), but the pizza came out soggy, and all of the toppings fell off whenever we tried to take a bite. The dough is flavorless, and the counter help were so rude, we left our pizza, and went elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone...
