Overpriced, poor quality of food since the renovation. The food is far too overpriced for the quality and service. My first visit to the "new" Union street was a shock- I was excited to see what they had done with the place, but disappointed when I ordered a raspberry margarita and the server brought me a plain one...then did not believe me when I informed him that it was the wrong type (hint- it was not pink!).

Anyway, our meal was okay, but I would have expected better for a $10 burger. The drinks have all gone up in price but have not improved in quality. Until there are some changes in the menu, I will save Union Street for Wednesday night trivia and avoid it for dinner.

Horrendous Service. Last weekend, I decided to try something new, together with a friend of mine went to Union Street and the Attic in Newton for a drink and appetizers. There were not too many people, but we decide to sit at the bar. First think that welcomes you inside is a horrible stench, I am not sure how often that bar is cleaned, but I know less than it should be?.defiantly deserves health inspector visit. We waited for God knows how long before the bartender finished his conversation with the blondie that worked with him. My drink did not come as the way I ordered, so for a next drink I took a glass of wine and was told by the blondie that it was a last call, (12:40 AM) so I should hurry up. Five minutes after I got the drink (12:45 AM), the first bartender came and told us we need to give back the drinks because they were closing. I looked surprised, the bartender just told me to JUG IT UP. (a glass of wine) It was 15 min before their closing time. We were forced to leave the drinks that we paid for and were kicked out of the restaurant like nobody. What a shame.

Not the same Union Street any more. Ever since their swanky overhaul was completed earlier this year, Union Street Restaurant seems also to have overhauled their concept of good service. As a frequent customer there over the last few years, I became familiar with the bartenders and waitstaff, who always made sure we were taken care of. I've been disappointed as of late by the slow, cold service, and the inflexible nature of the management on NFL Sundays. Though they have NFL Ticket, they have made a conscious decision not to maximize the number of games that they're able to show on their many screens. Perhaps they feel it is a good business move to show only the "most requested" games each Sunday, but it's unfortunate that they're OK with losing the most loyal of regular customers over this policy.

Only if you must. There is a lack of casual places in Newton Centre, so this is a gold mine when it comes to a quick bite and beer. The drinks were hot and poorly mixed, our food was inedible; the service was decent but slow.

Needs to get their act together.. This restaurant was recently overhauled so I feel the need to add some more recent comments. On two occasions I found myself eating here, once for dinner with a party of 4 and once for lunch with 2. Both times we were left entirely unsatisfied. The beer prices and decor are about the only positives I can say. The wait-staff is incompetent, the food is bland, the nacho's were covered in half-melted cheeese, my 'make your own burger' was totally wrong, they served the people next to us the entirely wrong dish, the service is exceedingly slow, we waitied for our food so long we almost just left to wait somewhere else. For all of this you get to pay inflated prices too. It's not that expensive as a whole, but for what you get you may was well go to McDonald's. I would not hesitate to go back for a beer and a Sox game, but they really need to get their act together when it comes to food and service.

Popular Newton Centre hangout offers a lengthy beer selection, varied menu and live music.. In Short
Union St. sports a healthy beer roster (20 taps, including many regional specials) and some adventurous stabs at affordable pub grub. Sandwiches and appetizers are the main fare, and there are special beer dinners. The upstairs attic hosts live music on the weekends, and TVs are situated in all corners. When the weather perks up, patrons fill a sunny, fenced-in patio.

Great for Brunch too!. Union Street was written up in the Improper Bostonian (Dec-Jan issue) as a great breakfast/brunch place. I checked it out with my wife and kids (4 and 2 yrs old). It is awesome. Great breakfast menu (kids menu too). Big portions. Nice staff. Can't wait to try it for some games, beer, etc..!!!

Great place!

The best Monday night action in Town!. We got to Union Street every Monday night after our Indoor Soccer games for Beer and 10cent wings. Nothing else beats it. Tons of TVs for Monday Night Football and great outdoor seating in the summer.

They have a huge variety of Beers on tap and what could be wrong about 10 cent wings. We always have great service, even being a larger group.
